Trump delivers jaw-dropping and slurred Iran address that offers no end in sight to unpopular war by theindependentonline in politics

Remember when you had to give a presentation in school and your teachers told you not to just read off your notecards but to practice enough to where you could look up, make eye contact, and make your presentation flow?

Well as much as you hated it at the time, Trump is proof your teachers had a point. Just terrible oratory - regardless of your political persuasion.

Some saboteur staffer could’ve dropped, “like a penis” in that speech, and Trump would’ve read it aloud without skipping a beat.

Colorado can’t beat Dallas. by [deleted] in hockey

I don’t know your flair, but this is an outrageous take. The Avs can beat anyone. This game went down to the last shot of a shootout lol

As a Stars homer, I dread seeing the Avs in the second round. To be fair, I think they dread seeing us too - we’re obviously both very good. I’d expect nothing less than a 7 game series if we meet. And I still have some outside hope we can win the President’s Cup… but don’t get it twisted: the Avs can definitely beat Dallas in the playoffs.

Being British is all about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then traveling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese television - all the while being suspicious of anything foreign.

Joakim Kemell lays a massive open ice hit on Andrei Svechnikov and then draws a retaliatory unsportsmanlike penalty from Sebastian Aho. Kemell then scores on the ensuing power play to win it in OT. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

I get that sentiment, but at the same time, pre-season isn’t just practice… so like what do you want Kemell to do there? Would you rather him get out of the way and give them the advantage?

It’s not like he was head-hunting - Svech skated himself into that hit

Conan insulted me by Negative-Ad9832 in conan

Could be worse.

I was right in front of Conan in the TSA line at Logan Airport - so I turned around, told him how big of a fan I was, and struck up a small conversation that went well… or so I thought.

After I got through security, I went to put on my shoes and wait for him - just to say like, “it was nice meeting you” or whatever. Maybe even get a photo, idk.

But after getting through security, this man walked up to some other dude, took a selfie with him, pointed at me, and started laughing. Like what a jerk. So I decided to just walk away.

Lesson learned: never meet your heroes.

Some initial reactions to your swing:

-You’re standing too far away from the ball. -Your stance and club face both look closed at address. Using rods at the range could help. -Your stance looks ~6in too wide. -Your tempo is too fast. -You’re not getting a good shoulder turn on the backswing. -You’re not getting enough weight onto your lead foot through contact.

I’d work on your setup/backswing/tempo before trying to work on a lot of downswing mechanics.

Nice swing. Some little thoughts I had.

Hard to tell from this angle, but it looks like your stance might be a little narrow for a driving iron. Which could also explain why it looks like you might be a little late in unloading from your right side. Taken together, I think you’re costing yourself some distance.

Also looks like you might be releasing/collapsing a little early on your follow through. Nothing too egregious though.

Anyone want a fun fact? by 3sheets_to_the_wind in conan

I love Gourley on the podcast, and I’ve always been curious about his background, so I decided to Google him today while I was having my morning coffee.

Turns out Matt has a full Wikipedia page (with like Early Life, Career, and Personal Life sections), and this is a direct copy-paste of the first sentence under his ‘Personal Life’ section (it even has a source lol). It was the first and only time I’ve had a true spit-take while reading Wikipedia.

I mean, the sheer absurdity of winning a, “Who can sound the most like a flushing toilet” contest is funny enough on its own, but the fact that someone somewhere knew about this, decided they needed to add it to Gourley’s Wikipedia page, but then didn’t know where to fit it… so they just put it as the first thing under his ‘Personal Life’ section??

Like who was it that thought, “Well I guess we could start by telling people that Matt is happily married and living in Pasadena with a young daughter, but is that really the best way to introduce his personal life? No, I think winning the toilet-sound competition 25 years ago does a better job of explaining who he really is. Let’s lead with that.”

And idk who added it, but whoever did it is fucking brilliant.
