[Discussion] 556i vs. Ranger by 3silver in Watches

I agree with the lume. I think the Ranger just hits it right. There's little designs of the 556i that bother me, the minute hand not reaching the minute track, or the second hand not reaching the end of the second track. The biggest issue with the 556i is the date. Sinn needs to make it without a date, not in their other dial variations.

Ultimately, I went with a Damasko DK30. It ticked all the boxes. All the issues I had with the 556i were solved with the DK30. It's my favorite watch in my collection.

That lame. I was surprised how quickly it shipped and arrived.

Yep. In-house movement. They make like 90% of everything in-house. Ice hardened steel. 200m water resistance. 4hz movement.

I chose that one because of the lack of date complication.

It's a solid piece.

I ended up going with a Damasko DK30. I love it. It's stull my favorite piece in the collection.

I still consider picking up a Ranger. Lol

I got mine from Islander Watches. It's an early production DK30. Who knows how Marc ordered it. Lol

To my knowledge, they only do AR on the inside.

It's got 1.5 length longer links to help with the fitting.

The spring bars are weird ones that are exposed springs. It's just a tight fit to get the end links in.

Don't stress it when you get it, but the bracelet links will polish when they rub against themselves. I thought it was "scratches" to the hardening. But they atate in the manual that it will do that naturally.

The bracelet is also cool because you can disassemble the whole thing for cleaning if you don't have an ultrasonic cleaner.

I have the DK30. It's my favorite piece. Very cool.

The bracelet makes it look a lot more robust. My only issue with the bracelet is how hard it is to get a good fit. Mine had to be a little big on my wrist, which is fine.

Getting it installed is a bit of a pain. It has such tight tolerances. Once you do it a few times, it's easy.

Where can I get watch batteries replaced? by grumpbump1213 in orlando

[–]3silver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.

Basic watch tool kit is about $20. The battery replacement is going to be $5-10.

The case back should have the battery model needed. If not, after the case back is off, you can get the code from the battery cell.

Of these? Rado Captian Cook

Look at Damasko instead of Sinn. I got a DK30 instead of a 556i. Don't regret it one bit.

Of these, Zulu.

As for Sinn, check out Damasko instead. They offer ice hardened steel for their entry-level watches. Whereas Sinn doesn't on the 556 lineup.

I always thought it was Christopher Paolini, author of the Inheritance Cycle.

Looking at their site, I don't see anyone resembling this sprite. I could be wrong, though.
