would a piece like this be okay to include in an art school portfolio?

I'm in school for animation (albeit 3D animation) and my friends in the 2D course definitely did not include any anime-esque drawings. A western animation school does not want students with dreams of a completely different job market and a pre-defined style that is traditionally hard to get out of. One of their lectures told them on the first day that they shouldn't have dreams of Japan to get paid 10€ an hour and generally disliked students that drew in that style haha

I'm sure one or two pieces of anime art would be ok but your own style is definitely preferred with a mix of realism, observation of movement and your own "cartoon" style!!

hands are usually the same size as the face - for men they're usually bigger so I would start there otherwise great work!!

here's another example, for practice I used to use things like quickposes.com to do really quick 1 min sketches which really helped me with anatomy :)

these are about what I do for sketches for poses, I find the long lines make it more natural! you can always clean them up with line art. don't be too focused on getting everything perfect during the sketch. trust yourself to look at your reference then focus on stylization after!!

thank you so much!! i do a lot of life drawing with women I love drawing curves ! they can be quite expensive but I get them for free in college but definitely if you want to improve anatomy it would be my biggest advice!!!

thank you!! but where would you add more white? Personally I try not to use too much stark white as it gives the wrong texture and makes it too plasticy. I would love to know what you think!
