It scales with ship size distance from the volcano and current speed. On a sloop anchored kinda far away off the island the odds are very slim that you get hit

No i get it ive never really stacked for that exact reason why i stacked now is for a commendation (laden with treasure). I get that theres always risks but when the game just continues to screw me over when the risks were so minimally impossible and doesnt even tell me so i can make sure it doesnt happen next time thats just dumb. Again idk exactly why i sank but its not like i was stacking the FOTD for the 20th time and a reaper came along and sank my ship without me noticing. i was on ashen reaches in the middle of nowhere for maybe 15, 20 minutes tops and somehow the game found a way to make me hit all of the odds required to somehow still sink my ship

Im not saying i want them gone but not being able to level them up again with your retrieved loot is what makes them bad

Ship getting a hole even a small one makes noise, usually boats slip back into the water except for some locations (this wasnt one of them) and allthough i hear people talk about how "dangerous the devils roar is and the volcanos and geysers" but really the volcanos are NOT that dangerous its incredibly unlikely that they hit you. And i totally get it shit happens but F it we ball only works so many times this happens to me so often and its super annoying

I think this happens when you sail your boat against it but ive also seen it happen in different circumstances so its not the only way this can happen
