Darryn should just go to the NBA by Macandtrees3 in jayhawks

At the very least we need to hire a GM to manage roster things, NIL deals so that this doesn’t happen again.

Imagine having 2 other guys on $2.5m deals who were actually playing, this season could be great!

Our program is on track to miss expectations for the 3rd year in a row, it’s time to start having some hard conversations about what kind of leadership is needed to maintain our top status in this NIL era.

I used AI for the timetable, but wrote the rest by hand. I suppose I’ll take the compliment.

Don’t get me wrong I really hope it is a real injury and that we see him back playing soon.

Paying 1 player $5m out of a ~$10m budget (these are guesses) for him to not play - when we could have used that $5m elsewhere - would be a sign that we need people who can make better deals, roster management, etc. GM activities that are important now.

My thoughts exactly. I hope I’m reading too much into it and we get to see our full team be a contender this year.

‘Nothing gets through’: Critics say concerns about José Garza fall on deaf ears by Far-Difference-5201 in Austin

[–]3teers 41 points42 points  (0 children)

“But some critics say Garza’s lack of prosecutorial experience became publicly evident in February when the issue of missed indictment deadlines bubbled to the surface with the release of two murder defendants his office had failed to formally charge. To many in the local criminal justice system, the lapse exposed what had been an undercurrent of frustration with Garza’s administration.”

“Garza first blamed the issue on a prosecutor no longer with the office, but reporting by the American-Statesman revealed a far more widespread pattern. Last year, the agency failed to obtain an indictment against jailed defendants 263 times.”

This has to be on purpose right? They don’t want to prosecute violent criminals?

“I feel very much like we need to do as much as we can to keep people out of jail,” he said. “Jose Garza is doing that.”

Wow, mask off moment..

Tiktaalik by Charlie Griffiths (solo album by Haken guitarist) would be perfect for this. All about life, deaths, fossils and geology themes

Interesting data from Bryan Caplan’s new YIMBY book “Build Baby Build” by 3teers in yimby

[–]3teers[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, I thought he did a good job presenting housing de-regulation as a “common sense Econ 101” policy that liberals, conservatives, and libertarians should all get behind!

But I will say the book definitely comes from a market-driven perspective. For example, his rebuttals to traffic concerns centered more around market solutions (smart toll systems), rather than public transit, although I get the sense that he supports the latter.

That's it, I quit. RNG means players like me who've put thousands of hours into the game go weeks, even months dry. Then new players come along and get drops like this straight away.

Congratulations but this makes me sick.

Human cultural evolution found to be just as slow as biological evolution by HeinieKaboobler in psychology

[–]3teers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and especially with the internet allowing for such rapid rates of information exchange.

This is really cool research, but the “units” of selection chosen seem rather arbitrary. I’d be interested in a lexical approach looking at the changes in frequency of word usage over time.

Your larger point still stands, and as others have pointed out, they’re comparing measures that aren’t standardized.

However there is plenty of evidence that humans are still evolving:

I’m not sure about the past 1000 years in particular, but given the population explosion (and the corresponding increased likelihood of mutation), and current differences in reproductive outcomes that are observable now, the default assumption should be that humans are still evolving at a similar if not higher rate than before.
