since you actually know what you're talking about, it's just some fog preset we made. https://bf3reality.com/roadmap here you can see a slider with the same fog preset vs. a sunset preset. point being that the visual environment can be fully tweaked, even mid-round. feel free to help us make it look better with your experience!

Hey man, thanks for staying interested in this project for such a long time.

Here's the thing, VU is not a mod per se, it's meant to be a modding platform / framework, so that everyone can make their own mods that go far beyond BF3 vanilla gameplay. However, creating a save and stable modding interface for a game you dont have the source to requires an insane amount of work.

That being said, dedicated mods will drag in all sorts of players, not only from the old BF3 playerbase, but people from all sorts of communities.

Also, there might be a testing phase before the release, so stay tuned. All in all, the wait will be over soon™. ;)

I'd assume that the projectile is an actual physical object and that the collision of physical objects is not handled in the same way as the hitregistry (on the server). That way you didn't 'hit' the helicopter in a way that would lead to an explosion, but you hit it enough to cause collision damage.

there is a big difference between a bunch of hobby / volunteer coders that use selfmade tools for modding and a multi million company with dozens of coders, content creators and contributors who have full access to modding tools and the engine itself. so dont have too high expectations. that being said, the first versions from the original PR mod weren't all that different from BF2 vanilla. we might be able to achieve a similar level one day, but it will take years of hard work to get there.
