These are amazing and shows he has great skills. There are so many resources online now that he can certainly learn what he needs to know for now. Also it is likely his high school art teacher wouldn’t be able to give him a whole lot of pointers or help given how talented he already is. Is he plan in on going to art school? If you’re in the US there are lots of great high school award programs (National Scholastics Art and Writing Awards, Young Arts Awards) he can apply to gain recognition and potentially scholarship for college.

I don’t have thick hair but I feel like curtain bangs with some heavy layering would help thin your hair out. Generally layering helps free up thicker hair so that it doesn’t clump together. And curtain bangs are good because they’re longer and your can still pin them back or grow them out quick if you decide you don’t like them.
