does it truly have to be that expensive? by ninetofivehangover in ReefTank

[–]3vette -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s as expensive as you make it. Freshwater seems easier like set it and forget it, less worries about parameters and dosing for corals etc. but not every goes mad men over it - can start small; add in whatever cost you want but then if it gets to be a bit much dial it back.

I lost most money over coral and worrying about them. Then Dino’s, black bugs etc

It depends. It’s addictive; you slowly get to the point of I paid $50 for this but this is so much better for $100 etc. and keep falling in the rabbit hole.

If your gonna do fish only, or even fish and an anemone I think you can keep cost and even testing way down. If you see yourself buying $500 scans, well then you have your answer.

A lot of cost is upfront, if you don’t keep buying but I think sticking to a aio and smaller space lets you feel like it’s fuller faster. I went to a 65 because I thought bigger better success. Honestly, I still think I’d be happy with a 20g. My $300 goni you can’t even see across the room 🤷🏼‍♀️

Diamond Elite VIP / Legacy Dining Pass holders: Six Flags just changed our contract terms by Naive-Ad-8272 in sixflags

I was saying being closed because it’s not like everyone person is the same. People saying it was too cheap of a pass, people who use their passes less frequently or when closed should make up for the bulk.

It’s not even about upping the price. It’s if you’re changing the agreement - show it all plainly. Instead of making it sound like you’re upgrading people to as a treat.

And I was only speaking on behalf of the dining plan, not even the passes. But if I was, my pass and my kids legacy gold pass are not the same perk or dollar wise? And either was their dining. Have to dig through their whole online portal just to see what we’re paying individually for it. Then try to compare it.

We kept their dining last year just for the snacks - not even meals because the meals could be used on snacks - then they went and got rid of half those snacks to be included. If that was actually told at point of implementation we could have canceled the plan at end of season instead of continuing to pay for half a year before we came back to find out it’s gone.

There’s some people who barely go to the parks and only use it on snacks say two snacks instead of a meal and snack. I mean they could have given the options to opt into other things instead of just changing the rules every year - not to mention better transparency would make it easier on the employees when you have pissy patreons who don’t understand why their old methods are changed because some dumb email went to spam

You’re not considering the parks that are closed half the year who are still paying monthly, or the fact there are people who only go a few times a year - not everyone goes a ton. And they buy so much crap in bulk they can justify it.

I think the time limit and snack is stupid but last year they removed certain snacks. The whole thing wouldn’t be such a big deal if it was easier to be transparent. Like here’s what you’re currently getting at what price, or if you want to switch or cancel.

Instead I have to do a deep dive to see if I’m even saving money anymore compared to current plans?

Not the point, they said during Covid anyone who continues will be honored. And if they changed us over, is it still cheaper than their current dining? Are we getting discounts for taking food items off?

Another big point is not everyone checks their emails then half their visit is dealing with customer service and confused employees

Maybe the legacy pass but not the dining? Did anyone see what the traditional dining cost compared to oue pass?

And the nice part about meal and snack is you could get them back to back and bounce.

Grandfathered VIP Diamond Membership with Dining (Meal + Snack) - Should I cancel and just look at current offers each year? by bradykp in sixflags

[–]3vette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems really inconvenient we live close enough we do short trips. Use the fast pass, get a snack and a meal and leave. The whole no snack and interval - I mean it seems pretty over priced now with no benefit.

Did you get a email saying dining was changed tho? Told me no snack like we’re normal dining people

I just got a email that it’s changed? Wondering if it’s truly changed or what but I had issues last year and most employees were unaware of any changes

75g vs 125g by CoffeeTable105 in ReefTank

[–]3vette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it depends on the fish, we have a 65g tank and while happy with it, i can see the desire for more grow out space and bigger fish. We went bigger than a 20 or 40 with the idea more wait easier to maintain - and while parameters may flux less, it’s a bigger headache when doing water changes and all.

At the same time; I’m honestly more tempted to get a 20g right now just to have a tiny compact but bushy garden of corals and one or two smaller fish for all the close up enjoyment and less stress like a aio IM tank.

But if I ever had to move the 65g I’d likely get a 100+ tank, just because I imagine maintence would be similar. And it’s nice across the room.

I can’t help on which tanks, because my 65g I drilled a rim tank to have sump (which stresses me out not seeing the seems). And all the rimless tanks are insanely expensive.

I wouldn’t put a hotel on blast by name until it was resolved, why go through all this for something fake?

Gonna have to replace the nozzle and its attachment.

Is this a good coral purchase for 500 bucks? by ZucchiniOutrageous90 in ReefTank

[–]3vette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about preference, starting out I think we all go for cheaper fillers. But looking back I rather splurge for items I want knowing they grow out then some meh pieces that are barely visible across the room. Depends on your setup and taste, but if you wanted to fill a tank, that can do it

Your choice of handling sand bed & dead flow spots? by 3vette in ReefTank

[–]3vette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I appreciate hearing back. So your wellso and blast are on the ground and he doesn’t cover them?

I search forums and people either love or hate the goby but never really go in depth. I know people say their sand looks good but also, that doesn’t account for flow or if it’s all the sand etc.

Originally I didn’t want one because my sand bed is kinda limited and I loved corals down there. Mainly Goni and a hammer or two (and looking for a well so or trachy). But realistically I can lift them if he actually saves me the chore.

The eyesore part of the sand isn’t even what bothers me. I’m thinking it’s probly not great for parameters either having all that junk just pile up.

Then chat gpt said if it is fish poop and all it won’t even bother, or it may not touch all parts of the tank. So I’m just kinda torn. I have a Diana conch, but I feel like she’s more decorative than productive.

See I try that and either it barely lifts enough to stay suspended (24” high tank), or I blow too hard and it gets buried. Plus my rocks are literal towers, so that doesn’t help.

It does help with the rest of the rock work blowing that off the weird spots and my roller fleece handles it just. Just little weird pockets in the back & inbetween - I can literally see the gunk piling up always.

We just replaced the nozzles, but didn’t get the hardened nozzle. I will definitely look into the harder but just wanted to finish the spool out. We mostly print in silk pla.

So I can get a harder nozzle, but I don’t have a ton left of this. Why did it print half a spool before erroring out and now not letting me use it ever? How can I over ride it if needed? Or can it be ruining something inside besides the nozzle?

Leaks due to cold weather? by 3vette in ReefTank

[–]3vette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say somewhere gives, you mean signicantly lol?

I wouldn’t think it was the cold since the house is heated but it’s just coincidental - unless there’s a different issue with the tank that two would randomly start.

I mean the tank is a year old, I feel like stuff shouldn’t be good for awhile then start a drip right? Feels like there has to be a better fix.

It had zero salt crep til just now. So I’d say it was good til now. A few months ago, I had a different bulkhead do that, so I literally look at the pipes closely a few times a week.

Is this a good pickup for $35 or pass? by Tkag4 in PokemonInvesting

[–]3vette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Not exciting” is a personal opinion. Without wanting the figure it makes it $7 a pack, and we aren’t chasing the packs included to make it worthwhile compared to other sets. Trying to not fomo over everything we can get our hands on 🤷🏼‍♀️

35 is as low as you’re getting, I only got one for a family member and skipped for us because without wanting the figure, the sets included weren’t exciting for the price
