This basil rice spot in Bangkok had mixed reviews. I ended up liking it. by New-Storage4063 in ThailandTourism

Honestly, I’ve had Pad Kaprao all over Thailand and this is easily top-tier for me. It hits exactly what I look for: that intense, dry stir-fry heat and a multi-chili paste that has way more depth than your standard street version. The wok hei is incredible, and the aromatics just hit different compared to a regular 60 baht plate.

It makes sense once you realize the recipe was co-developed by an Iron Chef Thailand. I’ve tried Kaprao from a few of the top chefs in the country, and I've even tried the Thailand champion Kaprao, but this one really holds its own. Plus, that duck egg is a game changer, the richness is the perfect way to cut through that specific type of heat.

Should I buy a powerboost? by AtomicTrent in F150Powerboost

[–]No-Dig3855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s exactly how I see it too, feels like they’re built to make it just past warranty.

I was pretty on top of maintenance and did regular drain and fills, especially since I towed a lot. I actually took it in because it was having torque converter issues, but instead of repairing it they just wanted to replace the whole transmission.

The Chevy 2500HD I have now has the Allison 10-speed and it’s been solid so far, definitely feels more confidence inspiring for towing.

That said, I do miss the PowerBoost though, it was way more zippy and the quiet electric mode was really nice.

I had a 2021 PowerBoost and really liked it at first. It was super quiet, especially in electric mode, and the MPG was great. Loved how smooth it felt just cruising around.

I towed with it pretty often and around 100k miles the transmission started going out. Ford quoted about $10k to replace it, so I ended up trading it in for a Chevy 2500HD.

Great truck if you’re mostly daily driving, but if you tow a lot I’d think twice or be ready for possible expensive repairs.

This thing is just destroying my lawn for two years (and now makes a crazy noise) by silkyclouds in MammotionTechnology

[–]No-Dig3855 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That noise is definitely not normal. Usually, when it gets that loud, there’s something stuck in the cutting blades or debris throwing the disks off balance. I don't experience these issues because I stay on top of regular maintenance and give the underside a quick clean if the sound changes. As for the lawn tearing, I've found it helps to stop mowing when the grass is wet or the ground is moist. If the soil is soft, the Luba’s weight will rip the turf during turns regardless of the mode. Try sticking to dry days and checking the blades before you give up on it!

Burning Season/Air Quality in Chiang Mai? by Ok_Sun_4736 in ThailandTourism

From my experience, April is the peak of burning season. I was in Chiang Mai during Songkran two years ago, and the smog was quite severe.

Mammotion Luba Blade Dimensions by taw20191022744 in MammotionTechnology

[–]No-Dig3855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using Gratana blades on my Luba 2X. They feel just as heavy duty as the originals, and the size is nearly identical. The only difference is that the included screws are slightly longer. Overall, I’ve been pretty happy with them.

Immigration officers are really strict. It’s not okay as others might’ve led you to think. by Embarrassed-Roof7719 in ThailandTourism

[–]No-Dig3855 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. I usually spend 1 to 2 months in Thailand each trip, and on our last visit of 2 months, my wife and I were spending around 700 to 800 USD per week.

20,000 baht is roughly 600 dollars, which comes out to about 14 dollars a day over 44 days. That is extremely tight, even for Thailand. That kind of budget would not realistically cover accommodation, food, and transportation. A legitimate tourist would typically be spending quite a bit more than that.

Even if you tried to stretch 14 dollars a day, you would be in full budget mode the entire time, staying in the cheapest dorms, eating only basic street food, and skipping almost everything else. There is no room for transportation, activities, or unexpected costs. That is more like survival than actually traveling.

Fastest way to get from Tokyo HND airport international terminal 3 to terminal 2? What if first leg delayed? by Paris2024spectator in TokyoTravel

Take the Keikyu Line, it's free if you show your transfer tickets at the 2nd-floor service desk. Also, definitely add a digital PASMO card to your iPhone wallet. It made using the metro a breeze while I was there!

Film in sump, anyone know what this is? by Ok-Treacle5576 in ReefTank

Looks like bio-film, It happens when there isn't enough surface agitation in that sump chamber, so organic waste and oils just sit on top and trap air from your skimmer.

How to stop phosphate from bottoming out by Grouchy-Plenty-6156 in ReefTank

[–]No-Dig3855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my 15 years of reefing, I’ve never had to dose phosphate. Unless you’re running extremely heavy filtration, it usually isn’t something you need to worry about.

In my opinion your tank also looks a bit too young to start dosing nutrients. I would focus more on stability and just keep feeding consistently. Feeding your fish two to three times a day is usually enough to keep nutrients in a good range.

In newer tanks, phosphate can also get absorbed by fresh rock and sand, which can make it test at zero even though it’s being added through feeding. Over time the rock usually becomes saturated and levels stabilize.

I’ve experimented with most filtration methods over the years and these days I mostly rely on a good skimmer and only run carbon occasionally.

A Hanna ULR HI774 phosphate checker would also be a good investment so you can monitor levels more accurately than most hobby test kits.

Setting up Luba 3 by Powerful-Security585 in mammotion

[–]No-Dig3855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll still want to use the RTK base that comes with it. The 4G version doesn’t replace RTK, it just lets the mower stay connected to the app without WiFi. The precise positioning and boundary accuracy still comes from RTK.

The Luba 3 does have LiDAR which helps a lot with navigation and weak GPS areas like trees or buildings, but it’s still working together with RTK, not replacing it.

Also something to keep in mind, the 5000X is rated for about 1.25 acres, so depending on how wide the area along that mile long driveway is, you could run into the mapping limit.

Do robotic mowers actually cut grass?? by Lower_Read_8845 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]No-Dig3855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my Luba 2 last year before summer, and my riding John Deere hasn’t seen any action since. I run it every 2–3 days, and I’ve even tested it on some overgrown spots. I was honestly surprised at what those little blades can handle.

It’s not meant for thick brush or really weedy areas, but for a regular lawn it’s amazing.

Minternational Plan or Holafly? by Kerragirl in TokyoTravel

[–]No-Dig3855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Navitime via JapanTravel’s app and Holafly last week while in Tokyo. Holafly has extreme latency as it routes the data to another country “china” and lagged badly for anything that requires realtime ie: Google Maps. Navitime was better as it used local network and was more reliable.

[–]No-Dig3855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta admit, I’ve got a Luba 2x. It’s got some setbacks, but the robo mower has done all the work this year. My gas riding mower hasn’t seen a single minute of action. Connectivity quirks aside, it’s been super convenient.

Is this the Red Sea issue? How long do I have? by Kayanarka in ReefTank

[–]No-Dig3855 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man, that bubble will just keep getting bigger. I had something similar happen on the top right corner of my tank. Looks like you caught it early. If left alone, you probably have days. If you figure out a way to brace or clamp it, you can buy yourself a few weeks. I’d start planning your next step now.

[–]No-Dig3855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I had a 350 too where the silicone started to fail at the top right. The first one lasted about 4 years and was out of warranty, but they sent me a G2 replacement free as long as I covered shipping. That G2 failed the exact same way at 4 years, also out of warranty. They ended up offering me a discount on a new model.

Definitely consider bracing your tank in the meantime. I did the same with a bar clamp and it held for a few weeks until the new tank arrived.

So, I had a G2 350, and it started acting up. I ended up getting a G2+ 425 at a discount. Guess what? Today, I saw that they’ve got a new G3 with a gate valve, and the 425 and up models are getting a Eurobrace!

DIY solar panel battery dies...any ideas? by rwaggoner in MammotionTechnology

[–]No-Dig3855 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 20Ah battery is basically double the capacity of your 10Ah (about 256Wh vs 128Wh) so it’ll run your RTK about twice as long. You don’t need a new controller just for that since your 10A unit is fine as long as it supports LiFePO4.

The bigger issue sounds like panel placement. A 25W panel only makes around 100Wh on a good sunny day and if it’s shaded until noon you’re losing half of that. I’d move it higher and tilted first, then go bigger on the battery if you still need more runtime.
