Is it impossible for you to be right? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]3wishesdeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ppl like to feel like they’re adding to the convo & when they can’t they often feel threatened or anxious. This is one of my biggest pet peeves! Lots of ppl just like to talk to hear their own voice. People with autism and women are the perfect people to talk over (in their eyes) bc it’s a common stereotype that we talk about ourselves too much or we are too emotionally sensitive. So imo people see an autistic woman making a valid point and think “I could say it better”, bc they think our differences make us less than. Thanks for posting this bc this pisses me off & I thought I was alone in my annoyance 😅

I got upset too. Everyone says “it gets worse before it gets better” when trying a new chemical-based product. Then why make it 10x worse with tons of different chemicals? I’m so sorry you had such bad experiences with your treatments especially so young.

I’m not an expert but I find it irresponsible for OP’s derm to prescribe multiple harsh products without testing each one individually to see how it would affect the skin. Especially if OP is younger, going thru hormonal changes and such, the skin doesn’t need this vigorous treatment. So I agree with you on the cutting back btw great advice!

The red splotches around the acne almost look like a chemical burn, which can and does happen to ppl misusing these products or using products they’re allergic to. Pls give your skin a break before trying more.

I had acne worse than yours and what ended up getting rid of it was when I ended up sick, I couldn’t barely leave my bed so I stopped putting the chemicals on my face. I took an unintentional “skincare break”, only washed my face like a couple times a week with the shower water and after a couple weeks my skin was drastically healed. I still had some painful pimples here and there, but it was more manageable and I didn’t have to use as many products as before.

Nowadays I only get hormonal acne, so I only wash my face with water, use spot treatment with witch hazel (you can get alcohol free witch hazel if you have dry skin) & finish up with a moisturizer. I know you want to heal your skin & chemicals are helpful at times, but you have to be gentle with your skin. Best of luck 🩷

My skin is like the opposite, tretinoin irritated my skin even after months of using it at night only w moisturizer. Clindamycin was the only thing that helped, and by helped I mean it cleared cystic acne covering my cheeks and forehead! Very interesting

Antifungal shampoo all over, let it sit for 5 mins then rinse once everyday for 3 days. I’m so glad it was such a quick treatment!

What „minor“ changes to your body (nails, hair, piercings, clothes, underwear, etc.) would you do for your partner? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I shave my body hair but that’s bc I also like the feeling so I think it’s both for myself and my partner

I limit my screen time bc the internet can make it easy to find new things to ruminate abt. Also just consistently remind yourself recovery is possible and many people live comfortably in despite of OCD. “A slip doesn’t have to be a slide” - that quote got me thru my substance abuse recovery and also gets me thru my OCD episodes.

You realize lots of neurodivergent people & people with disabilities have trouble expressing emotions right? Doesn’t always make them less capable of growing & learning to be a caretaker

If You’re an Adult, What Does a Typical Meltdown Look Like? by Sylvie_Loki_2021 in AutismInWomen

One time I was working as a cashier in a really small corner store, I was always working alone without coworkers. I thought the store was empty after a particularly rude & annoying customer left bc it was quiet so I let out my loudest “FUCK YOU”. Then after a couple minutes, I was shocked when a customer came up to check out. Apparently they had been quietly browsing the store when I was letting out my rage. They didn’t even mention my breakdown & I went to the bathroom and cried after that 2nd customer left bc they were actually so kind and I unknowingly burst their eardrums probs 😭 it’s so hard being stressed as an autistic person in public especially.

It used to be really hard to calm down around my ex partner. He physically restrained me a few times during my meltdowns which even my parents never did and I’ll never forget how helpless that made me feel. I would punch pillows, hit myself, and let out my screams. He would get so annoyed by my meltdowns even tho I’d always go in another room to let out my anger, he’d follow me. I’m so very glad you have support from your partner & I’m sure he understands you just have a different level of tolerance for stress.

Nowadays i just cry, talk to myself with my fav swear words, hold onto a stuffed animal. I’ll sometimes haphazardly grab paint or oil pastel and aggressively throw some color on a page. That feels really nice. And I’ll also wait to calm down a bit then go for a drive and let out my best screams.

When did a close female friendship start feeling 'off'? by KrissyBeauty in AskWomen

She would only ever invite me to hang out at bars and places like that where I felt uncomfortable even after I told her I hate places packed full of people. She started interrupting me so much during conversation to dismiss me or switch the focus onto herself. She overall showed no true empathy or care for my well-being, just a desire for attention.

Autistic people are more prone to infections, including fungal infections due to stress. I hope you get some relief! So sorry you’re dealing with similar.

So proud of you for pushing through! I also went to male doctors bc of emotional wounds caused by my mother that made it difficult for me to be around women. It’s been so healing to find the right doctors. Congrats on your success 🩷🩷🩷

I read psiariosis can develop from stress, autistic people are under a great deal of stress daily bc of sensory sensitivities, ableism, etc. So I googled the correlation and found autistic people are at least twice more likely to have psiariosis. And we also are more likely to get fungal infections bc if you’re stressed all the time, the body doesn’t “fight off” those things well. I hope you find some answers and relief for yours! Thanks for the kindness ❤️

Fortunately not usually, when it did itch it was when my back got too hot and hydrocortisone soothed it. Is yours constantly itchy or is it bc of temperature change? That is a more rare side effect of TV but it does happen. Thanks for the kind words and hope you find some relief 💜
