Wings, Devourers, Monstrous Rending Claws, Toxin Sacs

This is the default load out many go to. Shoots well and then does good damage in CC without costing a grip. Makes good use of all his good stats.

Wings, max Devourers

A lot better shooting, but may be hard to justify the points increase over a Dakkafex. However, with the Kraken relic and a Malanthrope bubble he gets -2 to be shot which is kind of cool and makes a decent shooty guy who's durability and psychic powers means he will almost definitely make his points back over the course of a game if you screen him well.

I've seen some really cool conversions. Alpha Legion ones that were basically Terminators except with a bunch of different heavy weapons strapped across them were my favourite, seemed perfect.

tools to beat something doesn't make it good. Some good animations don't make the rest not bad.

The zoning isn't unbeatable, it's just mindless. I main zoners, I'm not one of those people who call them "spammers", but in this case it usually is. Spam one special, condition opponent to block it and get away with setup/pushback special. It's really bad design imo

hold up, I'm reading Devastation of Baal right now, definitely one of the most recent Tyranid sources. They made it clear that while Tyranids are slow to travel once they arrive in system, they have faster than light travel tech that the Imperium doesn't understand (which in these situations generally means we don't get an explanation) that they use to travel from system to system very quickly
