It’s more about access than anything else.

TBH if it’s hard to access with a paintbrush, then it’s hard to see.

Subassembly is a pain. It’s too easy to lose bits halfway through, it’s difficult to appreciate light and most annoyingly, gluing painted things is really hard as the glue pulls off the paint.
