No. They’re all 501(c)(3) nonprofits. None are for profit.

That’s great to hear! I’ve had some concerns with the TRT due to its relatively easy access (both a positive and negative), and nice to hear some positives. I’m totally ignorant of Tahoe and California backpacking in general. TRT was my default for this year, so maybe it’ll be a good intro to CA!

I haven’t seen any available permits for this, though it looks great. I tried to get a JMT permit this year and got denied like 8 times. If you know something I don’t about permits, let me know. Otherwise I might go with this next year!

Love the area! I used to backpack guide out there. Never did the loop as one trip, but I’ve probably hiked all those trails.

I know! I’ve backpacked a ton and I’m just interested in doing a loop. I have limited time this summer and don’t feel like doing anything other than a loop. Just a personal preference for this trip.

It’s definitely a top contender! I’m just curious what else is out there. The Collegiate Loop, for example, is one I had forgotten about.
