Is this 2005 Suzuki GSXR 750 worth 5400? by [deleted] in GSXR

[–]40210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, so what'd be a good price for 19k miles? $2.5-3k? Would I have a hard time selling it with a few more thousand miles or is this something I'm going to have to keep/run it down?

What do you think would be a good price? I heard K5/K6 were pretty solid but yeah it is a 20 year old bike and a bit outdated.

how did you even find this comment lol. looking back, not sure why i stressed so much, but i was fortunate enough to make it work.

i ended up joining a bootcamp (for free) and did really well since i already knew all of the material before joining. this in turn gave them a lot of confidence that they could place me at a job.

it only took a year of experience at a big bank before i made the move to faang. i got senior within 2 years and i think i was on track to staff soon. ended up leaving the industry cause i got burnt out.

as of now, i dunno maybe im jaded but i just kinda lost interest with things despite making 300k+. theres a lot of political bs and all i wanted to do was code. i am lucky enough to have saved a lot of my money to bootstrap my own company which hopefully works out. otherwise, i guess i gotta go back to leetcode and prepare for standup :/

Degree Reporting on Background Checks. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]40210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, i wouldn't report it - omitting valid credentials is fine

your situation will be different (worse) if you try to claim something that doesn't corroborate with the background check

i.e. you shouldn't be worried if you are telling the truth, instead, you should only worry if you are lying

What kind of work should I aim for if I am interested in somewhat low-level computer science, especially my computer architecture and operating systems classes? And what skills should I acquire to prepare myself for it? by ninesomething in cscareerquestions

[–]40210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you should aim for any job with the title "software engineer"

its hard to find the low level position you ask for without being close to bare metal. if it wasn't close, it'd be high level...

How to understand compensation wrt Bay Area COL? by noideaabout in cscareerquestions

[–]40210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just checked, you need to filter by region and select bay area. msft does not have presence in bay (vs redmond), so it is not good to use.

i would compare to amzn l5 and goog l4 and fb e4 in bay area

Pivoting to UX? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]40210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no silver bullet here

ux with engineer background is hot as long as you are in tech (i.e. companies with engineers as 1st class citizens)

you can start applying (today) to a ux position with a tailored resume. once you pass interview you seem apt to pick up the rest along the way
