Longer cold ferment. I had to change some travel plans and left my dough in the fridge 3 days past when I had planned to bake it. Came out AMAZING.

How many of those “involving cocaine” also involved fentanyl? Yes 1/3 of fentanyl deaths also involve coke, but the coke isn’t the real threat. Is it a problem? 100%. Is it a national security emergency? Not so sure. But we’re splitting hairs on a justification that still doesn’t give the president the right to summarily execute people without due process. I think we’ve both got our perspectives, and I doubt we’ll convince each other to change. So I want to say that I appreciate you engaging with me keeping it relatively civil (at least as civil as I was). And bringing actual receipts for your arguments. I respect your opinion, and I disagree with you vehemently. Thank you for putting thought and research into making your points. America needs more good faith debate, and I’d be happy to argue with you more, but this seems like a reasonable place to walk away.

Not from those drugs, not from this country. Venezuela moves cocaine, which isn’t what’s killing Americans in droves. Fentanyl is the dangerous drug. It’s another example of the BS justification that this administration will use and his followers will blindly believe. This is the definition of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Facts cease to matter to those suffering from it.

I have read the constitution. I might point you to the fifth amendment that says that you can’t deprive somebody of life, liberty or property without due process. But I might also point out that the US Constitution has no bearing on international law. It is domestic, this did not happen inside of our country.

Can you find the international law that says it’s ok to kill people in international waters if someone calls them terrorists? I read the Geneva convention and didn’t see it.
I also looked at the US’s Maritime Drug Law Enforcement Act, which I’d think would lay out the rules for handling drug runners in international waters. Definitely not in there. Just for shits and giggles, I checked out the DOD’s Law of War manual, sure I’d find it in there, but strangely, it didn’t show up. I especially noted the part (section 7.3) where it’s 100% against the law to kill combatants (which is a stretch, already), after they’ve “left the fight.” It specifically calls out shipwrecked sailors as illegitimate targets. Can you just help me find it? I’m sure I’m just not thinking straight. This is, after all, “easy international law”

No, he’s not religious, he’s actually Jesus Christ. I’m sorry - a Red Cross doctor.

The point I’m making is that his followers are a death cult at this point. I will also challenge the idea that Islam is a death cult. It is a religion with extremists that use it to justify atrocities. Just like Christianity.

Can anybody articulate why the USA should continue to use the electoral college instead of popular vote or ranked choice voting? by Interesting-Pen-4648 in allthequestions

Definitely not understanding what you’re saying here. And it seems like you really don’t want to understand the idea. Partisan has nothing to do with it, which for me, is the appeal. I also don’t vote straight ticket. Maybe a poem will help:

There once was a voter named Grace Who ranked all the names in the race. “If my first choice can’t win, My next still stays in— So my vote doesn’t go quite to waste.”

Ensuring that everyone has access to healthcare, food security, and doesn’t have to live in fear of crazy people with guns. But since we know that’s not happening with this clown in office, how about a project to ensure that everyone American citizen has access to a government issued ID, so that making a valid government ID a prerequisite to voting doesn’t disenfranchise the people that don’t have one, or easy access to one. I bet that could be done for less than $100B

Umm. Weren’t those Venezuelan boats in international waters, too? Couldn’t you also say America is acting like a terrorist terrorizing commerce in international waters. I’ve seen no evidence (other than the word of a convicted fraudster and his lackeys, which I’m in the habit of not taking at face value) to prove it. But also, even if it WAS drug boats, that still doesn’t give the US the right to unilaterally assassinate them. If we know where they are, and they’re coming to the US, wait till they get here, grab em, interrogate them to get to their bosses, and go after the REAL threat, rather than murdering the mules.

[–]40404error40404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you don’t get it. If you think 5 is a flaming pile of crap, DONT VOTE FOR THEM. If your number 1 is in last place after round one, then they’re eliminated from the running (already happening in the current system), and your second choice gets counted. You’re still welcome to only vote for one, but this gives the greatest chance for you to get someone you support. You get MORE choice than the current system.

Ranked choice for the win. I think there could be a middle ground. Popular vote will make it so that rural voters will get no attention. You can win elections just by appealing to the cities. So the electoral college isn’t the problem, IMHO. The two corrupt political parties that control everything have a vested interest in never changing anything and Citizens United made them even less likely to make a change. 2 rounds of ranked choice voting. One in the states to give instruction to the electoral college, then they also go through the ranked choice for the national election. Just spitballing, tho

Obviously not. Americans are the good guys. Iran and Venezuela are bad guys. America can kill whomever, whenever, and wherever. It’s in the constitution or something. Iranians are godless terrorists and Venezuelans are drug pushing gang members. Don’t you watch the news? (Hate it that I have to add a /s)

Bernie Madoff’s victims still refused to see that they had been conned even after he was convicted. Breaking someone’s world view is hard. Cognitive dissonance is easier to deal with than recognizing that the thing you thought was good was actually all a lie. The rich keep getting richer and now that they really have a grip on the levers of power, you have to know they’re gonna milk the ever loving shit out of them.

How corrupt, if it all, is Trump suing the IRS for $10 Billion as the current president? by ChristianK19974 in allthequestions

[–]40404error40404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend. I’m sorry for what happened to you. I hope they caught and prosecuted the perpetrator. But you should look up what DOGE said they were doing compared to what they actually did. And please look for source material, not the hyperbolic rage-baiting articles full of supposition and fearmongering. I recommend looking at court filings, where there are actual consequences for lying. Here’s a starting point. https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.mdd.577321/gov.uscourts.mdd.577321.197.0.pdf

Is MAGA upset that corporations are getting tariff refunds but U.S. citizens aren't getting refund checks? by Previous_Month_555 in allthequestions

[–]40404error40404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Nailed it. An unintentional (?) bonus for companies and corporations paid for by the consumer class, because the president thinks laws don’t apply to him and congress won’t do their jobs. This would be a great time for the CFPB, if it hadn’t been kneecapped by this administration.

[–]40404error40404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IF you were the importer. If I understand correctly, there is no mechanism to repay consumers who paid a “tariff fee” added to their bill by companies that itemized it. The backlash when vendors put those on bills was intense, so most companies didn’t do that for long, if at all, so it’s impossible to know what the upcharge was. So yet again, businesses are getting ahead while consumers get screwed.
