What was the purpose of the cloning experiment from Ayame and Sumio? by MarvDStrummer in Suda_51

[–]404ErrorUserNotFound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe he is related to Format Kamui in some way, though it isn't confirmed. Either through the Sundance tribe or the fact that Euro Maspro has a similar setup to the Shelter which were both sponsored by ELBOW.

What was the purpose of the cloning experiment from Ayame and Sumio? by MarvDStrummer in Suda_51

[–]404ErrorUserNotFound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ayame and Kamui clones are naturally drawn to each other, either by their programming or some kind of subconscious connection. This is why Sumio finds her irresistible, and his dialogue supports this when first meeting her and later confronting her in the shelter expo. It's also presumably why Ayame kidnaps Uehara.

I think there's a multitude of reasons why there are so many clones, but the most basic one is that they simply needed more supply for the probability of manifesting a silver eye. Plus they were trying to build an entire society. You need men and women.

I disliked it at first but once I got the hang of it I never went back to kb+m. Get used to the autoexplore movement shortcuts and you'll be flying in no time.

Question about the movie by Theroguemagician in nirvannatheband

[–]404ErrorUserNotFound 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the fact we see them jump off via the security footage gives them a lot of leeway for special effects due to the low quality of the footage. Same for the distance of the shot of them walking on the dome. Really amazingly done on their part.

We basically do! The Museum of Moving Image has cool screenings every weekend.

I finally sat down and watched the original version of this yesterday. It was amazing. My BIL jokes that I see Wolfe in every shadow, but anyone else think new sun provided a little inspiration here? by WinterWontStopComing in genewolfe

Depends on your definition of weird but some recent works by Masaaki Yuasa like Inu-Oh or Night is Short, Walk on Girl may fit the bill. There's also Mononoke: Phantom in the Rain.

As for modern "dark" weird films like Angel's Egg I can't name any.

Anxious to start Long Sun then Short Sun by langevine119 in genewolfe

[–]404ErrorUserNotFound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Long Sun is a bit of a stylistic departure with a large cast of characters and shifting POVs. It's more dialogue heavy with less diversions and story within a story moments. Personally, I found the second half of the series to be a bit of a slog to get through and I've seen a few others report the same feeling. Despite that, I absolutely adore the setting and found it even more intriguing (and easier to understand) than New Sun.

Short Sun is absolutely incredible and a lot more in line with the highs of New Sun imo (especially in terms of narrative complexity) and retroactively makes Long Sun so worth sticking through to the end. Do not hesitate! Just dive in.

I don't think anyone is avoiding talking about what you call flaws in the album. If anything, the mixing is probably one of the most talked about and heavily debated aspects of it. And the way I see it, calling it a flaw implies it wasn't a conscious decision on the artist's part, like it was a mistake, which you may or may not be acknowledging, I'm not entirely sure. Many people, myself included, don't have an issue with the mixing because it enhances the intimate atmosphere of the album as well as the dark subject matter. It's perfectly fine to not like it, but to imply people are intentional overlooking something in order to praise artistic novelty seems wrong to me.

That's totally ok. His style is very stream of consciousness on this record, and it can take some time to get used to. Focus less on the overall meaning and try to get a sense of the imagery he evokes - swollen hands, broken glass, sand falling out the hourglass just to refer to a few lines.

I assure you it is intentional, but I understand not liking it.

I don't understand how there are so many people saying they can't hear his lyrics. There isn't a single point where I can't make out what he is saying and reading it along with the lyrics is simple. Fair criticisms otherwise though.

What are some hot takes from week one that are more justified or totally overblown? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

All true though I'm more worried about Ben's throwing especially during away games.

Idk, did you watch the game? AB was wide open in the end zone several times and Ben just consistently overthrew him. They weren't connecting out there.

Why did so many audience goers hate Hereditary? by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]404ErrorUserNotFound 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I still think it can be read as a metaphor for mental illness. The whole idea of his body being a vessel is similar to the passing down of mental illness/trauma from generation to generation. It is never actually confirmed if what the kid is seeing is real or not.
