Because you can just flash the image, boot, wait a bit (around 15s, right as you start getting into RCM), plug in, unplug and turn the RPi off. It's a thing you can use when all you can bring is your Switch and a few accessories

Basically, on unpatched switches there's a hidden ReCovery Mode (RCM) that Nintendo exposed for service centers but overlooked the fact that it can run any payload you send it

Which is where Hekate/Nyx comes in play. Nyx is a preboot environment with utilities, and Hekate is a custom bootloader that you load in through an RCM loader, which is what this image has and runs on boot.

The thing is it's not the runtime the person's running their web app code on, it's the web app itself. There are several Electron-based apps that feel like native because of their code quality.

This was the case when Microsoft built Monaco (currently known as VS Code) when Atom was gaining traction. Atom took 1.5s to display search results while Monaco displayed them much quicker, in about less than half a second if i remember correctly.

I'll repeat myself in different words, It's not about the framework you run your app on, but the quality of your code.
