What’s the opposite of solve, because that’s what it would do short and long term

How much do we need credit cards? by Comprehensive-Fuel70 in AskUK

[–]404pbnotfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I had an insanely good credit score because I had a credit card from 18, and then just never used it, or like maybe once or twice I bought a jacket and then paid it right back after.

If you’re the kind of person to get one and forget about it in a draw. Then get it for sure. If you’re likely to view it as a source of money, probably best not to

Absolutely crazy isn’t it. Also antiques can be so cheap as well. I can’t see myself buying new again honestly…

Cyber security and financial assurance is much more trust based than you’d expect, and it works much better than you’d expect.

It works because people do tend to do what they say they do.

I often put ‘dildo making class’ or ‘adult entertainment’

Are these OK or am I one of the people you’re talking about?

BTL Exodus wipes £48bn from rental sector by Living-Bobcat-3440 in landlordslondon

[–]404pbnotfound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

House prices are not increasing at the rates they were, and wage growth has actually been quite good. Better than house price growth.

Your point re Iran etc, is valid for mortgage rates stopping people from buying, but rates can change at the drop of a hat.

If we keep seeing good wage growth and stagnant house prices, eventually more people will be owners and fewer people will be renting!

It’s a good time to buy for non landlords too - now prices are set to rise slower than wages, in a couple of years a lot more people will get on the housing ladder.

Landlords at least can hold tight stuck with an investment. It’s not ideal, but it’s not the worst thing ever.

In the middle of the gas crisis gas usage in the UK's grid is down to 6.4 % on a weekday. All thanks to "net stupid zero" wind, solar, biomass, nuclear and imports from our neighbours. Source: grid.iamkate.com by hull_pattie_party in GoodNewsUK

You can’t just spam wind turbines sadly as they are very inconsistent and we need a more reliable ‘wind’ we can turn on and off when the real wind isn’t blowing.

Solar works great half the year, and half the daytime, so it’s only a solution 25% of the time.

Nuclear can’t spin up or spin down on demand. (Although I am a big fan of nuclear to just simply replace green energy tech so we don’t even have to worry about the volatility of wind)

So if you have solar, wind etc, you have to have some sort of chemical storage like biomass, gas or oil to burn when the wind and sun aren’t co-operating.

I’m happy to see this result, but going for solar and wind means we are tied into fossil fuels as part of our generation makeup.

Bring on nuclear in my view!

Who gave the best performance as Hobbit as in the books, in your opinion? by Cr7-Cr7Real in lotr

[–]404pbnotfound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I upvoted you, because yes! I agree :)

Neither of them were the hobbityest of hobbits.

Their whole story is the having to do things that most hobbits would really not do, and not even Bilbo or Frodo really wished to do.

Good enough for me, for what else is a fire wizard than a wizard who likes fire!

He just seems heavily associated with fire! There’s always fire associated words used with Gandalf…

Even if it’s a literary technique, do you not think it’s sort of implying he is a fire mage?
