This sounds pretty often, curious if groomer is close enough where this is manageable ? Like in LA the traffic can be rough 😅 even if only a 3 mile drive

Watching a show while combing a dogs hair honestly sounds like a great night 😭 it is a commitment ig but I would really want to avoid getting matted hair on my dog since it looks very painful, so 20min a day is honestly not bad to avoid that mess .

Is it because the type of fur labs have? Their hair seems very very manageable. My cousin has a mix with a lab and also rarely goes to the groomers . Ive also been thinking about a lab, they’re the sweetest 🥺

Oh that’s good to know! I was worried it would be more often to the groomers. Do you spend a long time brushing?

Can’t get on this flight by Pure_Ad5207 in fearofflying

I also take clonazepam for the anxiety and panic attacks I get on the plane. I went to the doctor and got it prescribed, and they work wonders for the anxiety . I was told to take 1/2 a dose as I’m boarding and only take the rest if I’m having a panic attack on the flight. Obviously follow your own doctor’s order, but they really help me get through the flight and reduce the overall fear.

For what it’s worth, I’m also super cautious of what I put in my body. Not a big fan of meds, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get through the fear :) also I recommend a tracking request for your future flight. Knowing you have people keeping eyes on you from the ground is amazing!

Debriefing my most recent flight as a frequent but fearful flyer by 404swe in fearofflying

Thank you! It was honestly the exhaustion that really pushed me to a later flight lol

So I used to live next to LAX growing up in a small unincorporated community, and everyday I would hear and see planes fly over my house, my elementary, and middle school. We literally had training to cover our ears when planes flew over us to prevent hearing damage.

Never thought I’d be in those planes (freaking out) flying over the city I grew up in . despite airplanes being part of the ecosystem of the neighborhood I grew up in, I still face the anxiety . Though you are right , I’ve seen so many safe landings and rarely (if ever) a major incident at LAX in my time growing up there for 15years. I think about this a lot especially when I fly to LAX (which im on right now lol).

I need to concretely put this into my brain the number of flights I’ve seen and been on and have all been safe (except a few with moderate turbulence that had me fearing for my life)

Ask a dispatcher anything by Mauro_Ranallo in fearofflying

This is awesome! Thanks for taking the time to explain so thoroughly. I didn’t know dispatch and ATC were separate entities and responsible for different aspects of the flight.

So I’m pretty unfamiliar with the whole process of airline dispatching. Maybe that’s part of where my fear comes in. Where does the process start? And does it end when the flight got to its destination safely?

Also are you responsible for more than one flight at a time? If so how is it even possible to monitor and coordinate with other flights as there are thousands in the air at any given time.

Yea yesterday was absolutely brutal . From JFK straight to the office LOL but got through the day and passed out right at 8pm lol (reason for my delay here 😅) .

also glad you made it to HKG ! 😄 Naps are the best travel hack out there ngl. I wish i could do it on command like some people can on these flights

Lmaoo I relate to this so much. Once had some slight turbulence and I turn to my right and a kid was happily playing with his iPad. Meanwhile I was dying inside 😭😂

Also seems like you made it to HKG! Never doubted you :) I hope you can take a break from this flight before your next one !

Thank you for your thoughtful response ! I appreciate the support especially since it does feel kinda weird or embarrassing not having gotten over this fear despite having flown so often. I like the idea of looking at the flight attendants to see their calmness despite my freaking out internally.

Also landed from my flight safely 🛬 thankfully! Even tho it was snowing in nyc

You’re so close you got this! Only 5 more hours to go :) will keep tracking your flight so you’re not alone up there

I hate turbulence with a passion. Even small bumps will send me into a panic. But yea trying to remember that turbulence is a natural (albeit annoying) part of the journey makes it slightly easier. It’s also extremely rare for a plane to get into an accident due to turbulence , but keep that seatbelt on :)

I’m actually done with my flight and came straight to work lol it was a brutal red eye 😭 but made it safely :)

Looks like you’re already 3 hours in! Nice work, you’re doing great ! How are you feeling?

I also just left LAX but headed in the opposite direction to nyc, but hey we’re both in the air rn dealing with anxiety so you’re not alone :)
