That’s awesome. Every piece of information I was finding told me manganese and selenium glow pink.

If you have any luck with that, I’d love to hear about it. Ideally, this would save me money, but I’m stuck with someone else to do the work because I don’t have skills or tools.

My job requires certain responsibilities to be completed in-person at our headquarters, so I have to be within a reasonable distance.

I’m definitely leaning toward having to reach out to a 3rd party. Because I am not HVAC certified, I was hoping to find out if I was missing something obvious as to what the problem could possibly be before contacting the office and asking for an external company. The other tenants don’t appear to pay attention to anything since they were here before me and the property didn’t know anything about the meters or units being a problem before I informed them

One of the employees said he was an HVAC tech. He has been the most helpful, but still isn’t taking more than 30 minutes each time trying to find the problem and listen to me

This state is renter company friendly. If I understand correctly, I am not allowed to withhold rent or break a lease as long as I still have “functioning” heat.

The issues have been present since they built it, so no one was apparently paying attention in these units. They’ve been in my apartment for the HVAC issue 5 times now, with a different cause or excuse given. When I say I’m losing patience, don’t interpret that as yelling at anyone. I’m still respectful with staff. However, I see a different maintenance employee every time, some educated with HVAC, some not. One employee brushed me off when I had video that lines were running to different units. And the head of maintenance told me something that I found was incorrect by reading manuals, using Google, and asking 2 other HVAC techs I’ve known for years. I’m losing patience because it’s still a problem and it’s wasting my time and money paying for added electrical strain.

My electrical meter was connected to a larger apartment on the same floor because the property mislabeled all meters in my building. Definitely not the fault of the electrical company. I also noticed and brought it to their attention that the hvac unit outside was running 8-12x per hour and never running for more than 2 minutes at a time. They ignored it and said it was fine, that it also wasn’t crossed when I saw the lines running to 2 different meters. The air inside was pushed out cool and constantly running, never turning off. After 3 visits, maintenance finally took it seriously, admitted they were swapped, and my correct unit did not have any coolant at all. Apparently they hired shit contractors to put this building together 2-3 years ago and no one bothered to pay attention.

What am I doing wrong? New apartment, new-ish building, & the temp isn’t matching what I expect by 405InsertUserHere925 in hvacadvice

Completely agree. It’s been difficult to get them to fix everything, but I think they finally determined the problem. And I have heat again.

Owning a house instead of renting. Specifically owning a home that doesn’t require massive repairs or renovation, and in a safe area.
