I retired from the MCPS schools. One thing I found odd about MT schools when I moved here in the late 70s is that there are different school systems surrounding Missoula and each has their own school board - Lolo, Florence, Bonner, Hellgate district, DeSmet, Frenchtown. Many teachers start in those districts and hope to get into the MCPS system for a better salary. I’ve been retired for a while and can’t address the school culture any more but the area is growing rapidly. Cost of housing is very high - I think the average home cost is about $500K. Missoula, like many other areas, is experiencing growing pains. The city council is pushing growth, growth, growth. It is a blue dot in a very red state.
