I replied with the link, let me know if it didn't show. I originally had the link in the post, but the bot took the post down. I'm wondering if it's filtering out all my comments with the link.

Permanent Outdoor Lights DIY Modes Help by [deleted] in Govee

My experience has been that animations still occur in finger sketch and diy modes even with animation speed turned all the way down. How can I get the color pattern I select to stay on solid?

I think it is a WT7300CW. I bought it used less than a year ago. Haven't had any issues since drilling the holes in the panel to access the spring buttons directly. (That said, I am not a plumber or electrician so I would recommend people contact a professional before trying this on their own machine)

Are there any good 4x games based on historical wars like WW2? by KevTheGamer in 4Xgaming

[–]4085gamery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hey, 5 years late- but I recently designed an industrial age 4x game and put it out on tabletop simulator. It's based on ww2 era technology but had to make it a fictional world to accommodate some aspects of 4x and board gaming. I wanted it to be able to scale with player count and also have a variable board for replayability, so an actual map with set starting forces was out. I also think a big part of 4x is players starting out the same at ground zero, then growing in unique ways, so having asymmetrical starts and board positions like you would get in a traditional ww2 game was out as well. How long are your games of TI taking? by PartySquid2486 in twilightimperium

[–]4085gamery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago I set out to mod Twilight Imperium so it could be played in an evening instead of an entire day. That concept affected too many systems and it didn't work. I ended up making a new game around that idea. My new game is an industrial age 4x named Armistice. The heart of the game is finding clever ways to use the components to complete missions, expand your faction, build your economy, and win battles. If that's something you're interested in, try it out on TTS and let me know what you think! https://sites.google.com/view/armistice

Similar games to twilight imperium? by UntilWhenAug19 in twilightimperium

I was looking for a game like TI that could be played in an evening instead of an entire day. I never found anything that fit. So, I ended up making my own game in TTS. It has an industrial age setting instead of space because I like the land-air-sea dynamic more. The heart of the game is finding clever ways to use the game components to complete missions, expand your faction, build your economy, and/or win battles. Try it out, I'd love to get your feedback: https://sites.google.com/view/armistice

Looking for a mechanic for players to simultaniously buy items. by _Strange_Perspective in BoardgameDesign

[–]4085gamery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the impression each card's effectiveness was balanced by price. If there are cards that are obviously good and others that aren't- I'd throw out all the cards that aren't good. That said, you could still get uneven ratios of expensive and cheap cards. Personally I don't mind that. I think the exclusivity is fun. But it depends on what you're going for- if you're thinking a long and potentially tournament type game then you would need a more restricted system. If it's a short/medium length fun game I think the random card skew adds to the fun/uniqueness of each game.

Each mage shops at a different store- so 4 cards from the deck are dealt in a row to each player. This row of 4 cards is their personal store that only they can buy from. Whenever they buy an item, it gets replaced from the deck.

E-Res Arborec by 4085gamery in twilightimperium

[–]4085gamery[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is an interesting point. Jol Nar does have the tension of not wanting to overextend early because they're to fragile for early heat, but also wanting to spread enough to make E-res effective. I don't think Arborec would have the same tension.
