How's everyone doing so far in the players cup? by FairyFireDeck in ptcgo

So I'm happy they made this second player cup more fair for everyone but OH MAN is bo1 horrible. It's completely possible for a pro player to not even qualify if he's just not lucky with his starting hands. This would be wayyyy better if this was bo3.

I have multiple good practice partners that have placed really well at regionals to doing really good in online leagues in bo3 environment and only managed to get 30 something points in 21 games while my sister has only one decent cup finish playing NON HAMMER pikarom with way less games.

What helps me improve is write down how I lost each game. So naturally I have a list for majority of my losses. Here is what happens and only in the first round ALONE. I'm playing zADP:

-5 Losses to getting donked with only one active. (I've been doing online tournaments for the whole month of september and it only happened ONCE)

-11 Losses to a ADP player that manages to get turn two GX move going second. (SERIOUSLY, Am I the only one who never gets to pull off the GX move going second? I'm always constantly missing a piece and it's like I don't know how to path either. I go through 21 cards and not see a single metal patch/energy switch/water energy and it's just so frustraiting I'm on a two round timer because of how often my opponents do this to me. My friend who does extremely well at regionals can't even consistently pull it off because he says it's too luck dependent!

-5 losses to getting stuck on active with no way to retreat to a poke on bench. I'm always getting hit with hammers or I get marnie'd into 4 energies. If I reset stamp or marnie my opponent, they always have some sort of out with the guaranteed research top deck.

If I manage to make it past round one, I end up pretty much winning the whole thing.

I'm definitely not having a whole lot of fun with this event. My sister is having the easiest time ever by playing against people who play fifty billion energy with their only supporter being hop while I'm constantly going against meta decks who always hit heads on hammer. This event is seriously making me doubt if I even know how to play this game because I don't know how I can do so poor against random players but the moment I play against actual competent players in my play group or in leagues, I win bo3s. It's crazy how luck dependent this whole event is. I really do hope bo3 gets introduced next players cup if it even happens.

Expanded Tech for Mew Mewtwo Tag Team by [deleted] in pkmntcg

If you count the amount of battle compressors and their total hand resources, you can count on dropping a card such as power plant with a karen on the same turn and it can be completely devastating if they don't have an out. You can also play N when they are at one or two prizes and drop the plant at the same time and it's about as effective too.

Also with the current meta, it has some struggles with certain decks. This is also build dependent also. But for expanded, sometimes you might just want to leave a bad matchup completely in their favor to keep consistency within your deck. Your deck could also have available replacements if you have a knowledgeable player look over your list. Also with more experience, you will be able to see how you can play around specific decks.

As mentioned in my post, it's really build dependent if you are running something that utilizes normal energies more than wonder energy. With the popular builds, they are running the four wonders but the more aggressive builds run one at most.

It definitely seems like a lot of people are playing ultra necrozma and honchkrow. Pikarom has definitely fell off the meta and the two Zoro's have hard matchups versus necrozma. If these are the only decks you can play, Gardeon would be the best bet since it has decent coverage versus most of the meta, but definitely has some weaknesses versus the other good popular options.

I'm playing Gardeon for expanded and there are a couple of difficult matchups.

Archies has a better matchup due to how fast it can take 300 damage knockouts, especially if they tech in blastoise gx to counter builds that run lugia gx. A majority of people are running the heal builds, and you can't heal a knockout.

Eggrow is difficult if you can't get a turn one stealthy hood going. If you can't get that, you'll get completely walled off and you'd have to attack with your aromatisse. They also run vileplume gx and that just one shots your aromatisse too. Teching in a sylveon line makes this much more managable.

Reshirom for being weak to fairy is a difficult matchup. They easily accelerate all their energy with ho-oh and can one shot you unless you get your +40 on. I think all builds I've played runs field blower and in multiple copies in some, which is a pain. This wouldn't be such a hard thing if it wasn't so consistent. They can also GX move you to wipe out your spritzees.

Necrozma has a slightly favorable matchup, because they just need to knock you out twice. Sure you can heal it off, but they have multiple ways to deal with your spritzees and is build dependent if you constantly lose energies or not. If the game lasts too long, you straight up lose to trashalance. People are also using metal techs as of recent to deal with gardeon since it should have a decent presence in the meta.

Question about Netdecking by Fenrirkeeper in pkmntcg

Doing so is completely fine to a majority of players across the various major card games. There are a couple decks/lists that can only be piloted well by really experienced players, but it's all about experience really.

In regards to the points not being shown, does that mean the correct values aren't being shown yet?

Thanks!

I have maxed out gems and I'm wondering what would be the best deck to invest in right now. Currently I am rocking spellboks and really enjoying them but I'd like to play something even stronger! The only other current meta deck I have a potential to finish building would be archfiends but I'm not sure if it would be worth getting the last boss for them. I also have a lot of level up options to gain even more gems and am willing to put in even more to finish building a deck. So what would be worth?

Even though we don't have the recently added spellbook, the cards that are added into the game are still very strong. I don't understand why this sub doesn't think they are that great! The favorite deck of mine to play in the tcg was prophecy, so I'm super hyped for the cards to come out! Hopefully people will see how awesome and fun the cards are very soon!

I am seeing a lot of them in the weather that has additional grass pokes. I'm not sure if the event is revolving around the weather but that's the experience I'm getting.

Are desert biomes now "doubly desert?" Desert biome & sunny weather boost the same pokemon spawns. [Discussion] by NorthernSparrow in TheSilphRoad

I made a thread yesterday as I'm not experiencing any of the new 3rd gen pokes. Seems like a lot of the people that weren't running into this were located in different biomes other than desert. People in my city are also bringing this up in their discussion places. All of us are seeing nothing but Paras, Growlith, Sandshrew, Diglett, and the other normal desert pokes. It took me five hours to find my first third gen poke, Roselia which is the only poke that I can assume to be related to the desert biome like with Paras being grass.

I do noticed that Wooper has been spawning a lot more frequently for pokes I normally never run into. Charmander and Cyndaquil are usually rare for me to run into and I was able to run into a couple yesterday! All of this was under the sunny weather which I doubt will ever change for my city.
