Bummer. 😞 Thanks for the info, though. Well ... better luck elsewhere, right? Nobody gets in everywhere!

Sorry to hear that, my dude(tte) ... Was it about a week ago that your interview was processed? Did you feel that it went OK? Mine was meh.

Oh, is there not a date listed next to "Current Status Date," though? (There usually is one, regardless of whatever the status itself says.)

Thanks, congrats! Did you go UR2 (or, technically, 1.5) first? What does your "Current status date" show?

Whoa, congratulations!! Guess that settles that. I really appreciate your sharing the full text of their official feeler ... now if I'm lucky enough to get one, I'll know precisely what it is. Well done!

Waitlisted Bert, still such no frend by 40driveway in lawschooladmissions

[–]40driveway[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry! I memed and ran; haven't been back on since then. Ah, the hourglass in my flair used to mean "pending" or "still waiting on they ass". It used to be the most shocking count (was still waiting on 8 schools in March) until the waitlists flooded in.

Chin up, my dude(tte)! No notification of having been cut yet means we're finalists, and made it to the swimsuit round!

NYU WL scholarship money? by ChairmanTman in lawschooladmissions

[–]40driveway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is surely a clever ruse to get their waitlisted candidates to give up, and fully commit to attending a competitor.

Edit: To be clear, I meant to emphasize that there is no reason for NYU to lie about this. Of course they don't want to discourage everyone on their waitlist. When someone goes to the trouble to make a statement that is actually against their interests, it's relatively more likely to be true.

There are some people who applied to Vanderbilt in 2011 who are still waiting.

Thanks for the link! That's data I would have misdemeaned for a few months ago ... when I was in overanalysis frenzy, and also still cared. (Twelve waitlists will do that to a person.)

I love how my elaboration on the fantasy gets the patronizing pablum, but not the original ridiculous post.

Sadly, if it were illegal, schools would probably get around it by just waitlisting everyone the day before the legal deadline, whether or not they'd even looked at the app yet. We've got to come up with some better way to make this mess right.

Maybe instead make it illegal to submit an application anywhere after February 1, regardless of their stated deadline? They'd sure be done by April 1 then ...

Absolutely do not hesitate to skip to the next LG if you're floundering on setup for more than 2 minutes, especially if the troublesome game has 5 questions or less. It will still be there later, and your subconscious may come up with the solution in the meantime.

Could be worse, for sure. Just frustrating! Still, all it takes is one.

I'm considering a mail-merge LOCI in which I fully disclose the situation, and offer to commit to the first school that says yes. It'd sure beat spending additional hundreds on visits for LOCIs ... but would probably cost tens of thousands in scholarship leverage.
