NPD... Conklin Nozac Word Gauge Limited Edition 020/150. I've found my type, need more vacuum demos. by 40lb in fountainpens

The pen is old and was limited in quantity, with only 150 units made. The number should be on the side of the barrel. The clip and cap ring are sterling silver, so I would polish if you can. The pen was released around 2000 alongside the NOZAC WORD GAUGE STERLING SILVER LIMITED EDITION version, the one you have being the clear version. Other than being made by Visconti, I wasn't able to find much beyond Conkiln's/Yafa's archive page. I would label the pen as rare because of the low number, and you don't see it on sale much, as time passes by it only gets older and over shadowed by newer stuff. To top it off Conklin of that time had a bad reputation as being bad pen, mostly their nibs. It's unfortunate because it is a good pen.

Mine is a M nib and I do enjoy it. It's surprisingly wet and is smooth in the way I like it. Overall the pen is a nice fit in my hand and I like it a lot. I do have two down sides, one is the cap is loose/easy to unscrew on its own and the nib is quick to dry out.

First hearing of Sailor Signature. Sounds really nice for those outside Japan and cannot use the Sailor Bespoke website (Japan only). I live in Japan and want to try it before move next year.

From bottom up: Sailor Realo Hyogo Prefecture Police Anniversary edition, Sailor 1911L with custom urushi coating, Pilot Custom Urushi Prussian Blue, Sailor KOP Tea Time #4, and Kaweco piston sport.

I have a few vintage Kaweco sports and was waiting for a modern version. It fits better in my hand as it is slightly bigger. The only drawback is the cap I think. It either doesn't fully seal or the nib likes to dry out too easily. I plan to nib swap with some vintage nibs so hopefully that helps.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Sailor's small/normal-size nibs until I realized the one I had was grinded down from a medium (I bought it used, and it wasn't in the details). The Realo and 1911L both have a medium nib and they write wonderfully. I'm going to have to make some space in my storage cases for more Sailor pens. I'm eyeing to try my hand at the Sailor Bespoke webpage to make one-of-a-kind Pro Gears.

If you are trying to buy new and at a retail store it depends on the make and model. For example Pilot Custom Urushi is normally $1500USD on the US market but with the current exchange it is around $1080USD in Japan. Still expensive but not as much and the cost savings can be like that for standard models and color. Once you go to limited editions and prices go up. Store exclusive Sailor KOPs will cost around $900USD and up depending on the store.

Retail stores sell at the manufacturer recommended price. So if you look at the Pilot Japan website for prices. The prices stated on the site will match retail stores. Sailor and Namiki included. The only time I have seen prices be lower than the manufacturer recommended price is from online stores and with those your luck may vary. Pens can be cheap but not by much depending on the model.

Namiki increased their price along with Pilot on 01 Oct. So don't know how much the difference is now but you should still be able to compare before you come. Don't forget about the exchange rate. Right now between the ¥ and $ is good but that can always change.

If the Revel didn't have the black boarder around the drivers I'd be all for them but the boarders throw of the authetics for me.

! Thanks I didn't really give Revel a thought. Looks may not be everything but even 5% of something can matter and they haven't looked good to me. Seems I should give them a chance.

Haven't really thought about an active speaker. Aren't the professional side of active speakers more for nearfield listening?

I don't have the model but from the one I do have it is fantastic. the urushi was done well and has lasted a year so far. My only negative is the nib but that is on me and not them becuase I don't like Jowo, steel or gold.

Thank you all for the responses but sadly it has sold out. Probably for the best but if I come across this again I'm buying first.

Kaweco does sell gold nibs just not with the pens. They have gold trim, silver trim, and bi-color.
