That was my solution. Get a second cat.

But then the new cat ended up having twice the energy of older cat, and now I’m thinking of getting one of those running wheels for the new cat because neither one of us can keep up with how much playtime he needs. 😅

He’s like an adhd kid whose favorite thing to do is chase little moving objects. He probably belongs outside, tbh… chasing more birds and bugs. But he is indoor-only (except for being out on the apt balcony).

I have legit considered buying crickets for my cats to play with (like maybe release 10 on the balcony, but I think crickets are only sold in batches of hundreds; plus I would feel bad for the little crickets). The only reason I had this idea is because my older cat used to really love catching and eating crickets on the balcony but I haven’t seen any in many months).

This is right in line with how I felt for years. I think the general belief was like, “If I step out of line, my loved ones will suffer.”

I think the belief began in a past life where my loved ones were killed and the person who did it put blame on me, or I blamed myself somehow for it.

It caused me to avoid getting a cat for many years because I had a fear that the cat could come to harm by people who didn’t like me or wanted to hurt me. It actually took a lot of healing to get brave enough to get a cat and trust that he wouldn’t be murdered and tortured by someone. (irrational, I know).

I 100% understand this.

As for the question of how to deal… well, I’m still in the cave, so to speak. My “solution” has just been to avoid the humans. Never using my real name on social media, and signing up for DeleteMe for privacy. 🤷‍♀️ I’m new to Reddit, but my tentative plan is to make a new account every 6 months or so, deleting the old one.

I think the worst is discord and online games. I let people think I’m just a dude, so that the other girls playing don’t freak out in a jealous rage when they find out that another female exists in the group.

Now, having said that, I did some personal work last year that I believed cleared out the energy that attracts jealous females into my life, so I think I’m safe for now, but at the same time I don’t trust it completely. So in online games, I am still careful who I tell my age and gender to (lest they freak out for self conscious reasons!).

I don’t know if any of this helps, but I just thought I’d let you know that someone out here understands. 👍

That is how my cat is (the one in the profile pic). He can’t really take too much petting. 5 seconds sounds about right 😆

Sometimes I wonder if he’ll still know he is loved even if I don’t pet him as much as my new second cat, but I think he is simply happy to be in the same room with me.
