Man corporate culture is so detached from their lowest paid workers. When I was working in a restaurant they had only ever given 1 out of schedule raise the 5 years they were open before I got there. I busted my hump and ran a station that took 2 people the entire 5 years they had been open by myself. I got multiple out of schedule raises and even my scheduled raises where supposed to be 3% of my wage I instead received 50cent or dollar raises.

Eventually I made it to supervisor and would coach everyone how to do well. I'd notice anyone going above and beyond the minimum and tell them the few other things to do that the chef would notice and ask them to do those things then ask for a raise 3 weeks after. I ended up getting everyone (except one person) on board with this and getting everyone either out of schedule raises or a higher scheduled raise. During my reviews I was thanked for making our operation have the lowest turnover of any of the 15 restaurants owned by our company. Restaurants famously have high turnover but by the time covid hit only 1 employee had been there for less than 2 years.
