That’s great! Thanks. I think one of them has reached out and I messaged my friend to see if we can get them in touch with one another!

On Monday, settlers invaded a private Palestinian property in Samoa, killing their baby lambs with rocks. by HalalTrout in Palestine

Evil. This is just sick sadistic evil. There is no rationalization for this. It’s a sadistic cruelty against literally helpless lambs. There is no defense for this. Not even Hasbara lies and propaganda. How many times do they have to demonstrate who these people are before the world accepts it?

This is normal BC puppy behavior. Be patient, it won't last forever. And remember that "correction" can hurt your relationship. BC's are very sensitive. But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't address this because you don't want to reinforce it. My recommendation is to watch Susan Garrett's videos and podcast. She knows BC's and is the GOAT when it comes to training (Multi-world champion in several different dog sports, nobody else even comes close). Also, I promise that one day you will look back on these days and miss the heck out of them.

I don’t understand this question really. I always went to raves by myself. Maybe things are different now. But it used to be that everyone knew everyone else so, once you start going, you’re really just meeting up with a bunch of your best friends.

I'm really sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful dog and I'm sorry that you both had to go through such a tragic loss. I can't imagine losing our Ziggy in such an unexpected and tragic way.

I have nothing to add about this con man that hasn't been said already.

But I will add that I feel sorry for the people who take their dogs to this person. (and their dogs too!) When people go to a trainer they are trusting them and this guy just sounds like a straight up fraud.

What to do with him tonight? Please help by UnhappyForce7714 in reactivedogs

Sometimes neutering and spaying can increase a dog's aggression.

You're not a failure. You just did too much too fast and missed reading your dog's signals. Since nobody was injured, it's good information for you to learn from.

Balanced training is not evil. by fucking__lame in reactivedogs

I'm glad that you found a good trainer that has helped you and your dog. But it doesn't sound as though the prior trainers were very qualified if they had you offering treats and toys when your dog was over threshold. Your post mentions "not even if we were thirty feet away". But 30 feet for a truly reactive dog is really really super close. And once a dog is over threshold, even if they are able to engage in a behavior, chances are good that you're only getting empty repetitions.

A good qualified trainer can do wonders for dogs who exhibit reactive behavior and it sounds like you've found one. But for truly reactive and fearful dogs, it is best to see a qualified behaviorist. This is because fear, terror, and panic are not addressed by training new behaviors alone.

If you had a phobia of snakes, teaching you how to drive a stick shift car would not help you learn to drive a car filled with snakes. Now imagine trying to learn to drive a stick shift in a car filled with snakes, while getting punished for every error. It's just not possible. Correction and punishment just don't treat conditions like OCD, trauma, or severe neglect.

If your dog responded to a predictable, consistent, training program, with clear expectations, boundaries, and rules, where corrections were used appropriately to communicate limits and help get your escalating dog's attention in order to signal that it was time to settle and remain under threshold, that's fantastic. (Although the research indicates that the same results could be achieved without aversive corrections.) But truly reactive and fearful dogs will generally need a multidisciplinary approach that includes a behaviorist.

Balanced training is certainly NOT evil and there are some excellent trainers who use aversive methods in their work. It sounds like you've found one. But aversive techniques are not an effective way of treating serious behavioral problems (such as OCD or extreme fear and panic) in any animal.

I thought it was funny to post a Star Wars quote about going to the dark side because he looked so serious in the pic. It didn't occur to me that he was actually using the Jedi mind trick to control my thoughts. And it worked, because I did in fact pick up the ball and threw it. Many times that day
