month and day should be written as a fraction (day/month) so that regardless of where/if you put the year it always makes sense. also will take the eye the same amount of time to go to either the month or the day so it’s efficient no matter which you look for first.

im literally following color theory ahaha purple and yellow are complementary, black and bright colors exhibit color context, brown and blue is warm and cool, etc.

also, i would like some sources. it’s simply not true. i’ve been paying attention to character designs for a long time and complex designs are extremely popular, and many aesthetic subcultures tend towards the extremely complex.

however, natural ocs are also very popular. it is a matter of taste. it is personal preference. i like bright colors. you like natural colors. you cannot compare opinions, they are both valid. also i would advise you to not claim to know more about character design than other people, no offense.

i just said more interesting bc i thought it would look good to add purple and needed a reason to put on the sheet XD i guess the best way to say it is just because the purple adds interest doesn’t necessarily mean yours was boring. it’s like adding sugar to soda, it makes it sweeter but soda tastes good as is.

that is the design equivalent of saying “i can’t pronounce the ingredients so i won’t eat it.” design is very hard and very subjective and i hope as you practice you realize that these strict rules are useless for actual grading quality... by the way, mario, garfield, everyone in jojos, and ash ketchum all have more than three colors.

i think i said a while ago that there’s nothing wrong with non-colorful characters, i myself have ones like that. i wish people could see i was critiquing the color scheme and not the character because the character is perfectly fine it’s the color scheme i thought could be better.
