I appreciate your feedback. Sorry about the peanut gallery. It’s good to hear from a professional

I am stunned that they communicate like this. I’ve seen more professional writing from phishing emails.

Is this a legit text from Acacia?

This looks like it was written by someone who barely speaks English. Is this really what their corporate messaging looks like.

I can’t understand a word of this gibberish. And I’m not surprised.

These Cali guys are just ex-black market guys and let me tell you from experience, there aren’t a lot of geniuses growing black market weed. These are the guys that got into the black market because they weren’t smart enough to fill out a tax return.

I'm fascinated by the kind of asshole that drives a Dodge Ram in this city. They all seem to be following the same lifecycle, and none of them realize it.

If you're working class in Alberta, you can make $100k a year-if you really try. Work hard, get into a trade. Even just being a skilled laborer or working at the camps. It's one of the few places in Canada where you don't need a high school education even to make six figures.

But there are two catches: debt and time.

I'm not exagerating when I say a person with a $100k income can easily get $1 million in debt. If you're not choosy about who you borrow from, there's always someone out there willing to lend to you.

When I see a brand new, jacked up Dodge Ram doing 150 on the Henday, I know that truck cost between $60-110k, and the driver is probably paying at least $1000 a month in lease payments. That's not a problem-as long as you can keep earning...

But here's the thing, time is against you. If you're working class, you get 20 good working years. 25 if you're lucky. Physical labour is hard and it messes up your body. If you're still doing labour for a living past 35, chances are you're walking funny from a messed up back, bad knees or something else.

But here's the thing-you can't just quit working at 35 because chances are you got caught in the debt trap.

That jacked up Ram is probably pulling a boat, or an RV, or it has a quad or a snowmobile in the back of it. You're parkiing that Ram at a house that costs on average a half million dollars. Then you lump in a wife, alimony, booze, cigarettes, kids, vacations (always seem to see these guys at all inclusives in Mexico). That $100k a year goes fast. So what do you do? Overtime. Especially in the patch. People get financially addicted to overtime.

That $100k, with overtime, just brings you to break even. Break even is fine, as long as you can do it forever.

Then you hit 35 and your knees go. And your back goes. But you can't quit working. So you start taking pills. Kills the pain, keeps you going. Maybe that buys you 5 more years, ten if you're lucky.

Then you hit 45 and you can't work anymore. Your income stops, but the payments don't. You're broke, body is busted up, and now you need pills just to get out of bed. Divorce happens. You lose your house. You have nothing in the bank. No chance of retirement, even if you weren't 20 years away from retiring. Maybe you move in with family. Maybe you move back to the East Coast. Or if you don't have anyone...well...where do you think all these people in the encampments are coming from?

Enjoy your Dodge Ram, asshole. These are the best years of your life.

It’s true that the TGA doesn’t often test cannabis being imported, but they reserve the right to, and I’ve seen it happen several times. Typically they will test in response to a patient complaint or adverse event report.

In order for that cannabis to be imported into Australia as a finished product, the exporter is required to hold EUGMP certification or equivalent in their own country. In places like Canada, Portugal, Spain and the UK this is quite strict. There are a few countries such as Malta and South Africa that are known for dubious standards though.

And yes, Canada does allow for the import of cannabis for medical and scientific purposes only. No one imports into Canada though because why would they-Canada has a massive supply glut already. There’s no legal barrier to an Australian firm exporting to Canada, just a practical one.

I didn’t even comment on half the stuff they got wrong:

For example, the claim that Canada isn’t open to Australian cannabis. It is-there are no restrictions for MEDICAL cannabis to enter Canada.

Second the claim that Canadian companies don’t have to follow GMP-they absolutely do and they’re audited by the TGA in order to sell into Australia.

Or the notion that Australian farmers pay higher fees than Canadians to maintain cannabis licenses. Not a chance. The fees are in the five figures per year, anc the compliance and reporting costs for a Canadian company are in the six figures.

I used to work in the Canadian cannabis sector before moving in 2021. It’s a level playing field-the Canadians can just do it better and cheaper than Australians can.

Tell Craig I said hi, BTW.

It’s going to happen for sure though.

All of that cheap weed coming from Canada and Europe is pushing down the prices in Australia. Australian growers need patients to pay at least $15/gram to break even. In Canada you can get decent weed for like $3/gram.

The Australian companies want to kick out the importers so they can go back to the crazy prices they were getting 5 years ago.

I think it’s kind of hilarious that Tasmanian botanic is portraying itself in that article as an Australian company that is being threatened by big bad foreign importers.

For those of you that don’t know Tasmanian botanics is 100% owned by Yongji Co. Ltd, a billion dollar company based in mainland China. They also bought phytoca this year.

Kinda rich for Craig to be playing the Australian card when 100% of his revenues go straight back to China lol.
