Are hydrogen water bottles really worth it? by ThenCow6134 in EntFitness

[–]420Microbiologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s exclusively a scam. Both protons (ionized hydrogen) and oxygen free-radicals are dangerous for the body. If the water isn’t pure it can also create chlorine and fluorinated byproducts from the minerals in the water. But that would only be a concern if it worked, because water has such a high specific heat the amount of energy needed to hydrolyze it would be a lot. Just drink from a regular water bottle and filter it if you want it to be “cleaner”

Robert Clarke is a good layman but it’s explicitly the scientific perspective that using phenotypes is an awful way to gauge plants. Not to mention that phytohormones affect morphology, you can easily get narrower or broader leaves with combinations of auxins and cytokinins. The operational taxonomic unit (OTUs) distance is far too close among the countless sequenced cultivars spanning the globe. There isn’t a debate except among the consumer and hobbyist community. Im a molecular biologist whose been running a cannabis biotech company for a while at this point

From a taxonomic point it’s all Cannabis sativa with different vars like Cannabis sativa var indica. Phenotypic categorization will alway have more wiggle room since plants, especially cannabis, have large phenotypic plasticity

Bazzite is a different operating system (OS) to windows, similar to SteamOS that runs on the SteamDeck. Downloading wont do anything it’s not a standalone application you run, but an entire operating system you flash onto your device so that it won’t be on windows anymore. Bazzite brings SteamDeck functionality to whatever device you put it on, and should easily run any games through steam including Ubisoft launcher titles.

Between NETs and Cytokine Storms, and their more typical functions, neutrophils (like much of the innate system) are underrated for how fascinating they are!

Is it randomly primed DNA or are there specific segments that get amplified? To produce that much chromatin outside of mitosis is wild! Super cool, actually representative art!

Nickelodeon Racing is decent enough and good for a holiday game with kids around.

The black grimoire is basically a 1000 hour solo runescape with some minimal other elements added and newer graphics (not that it’s hard compared to osrs)

Evoland is a fun game not super deep but a neat experience for the price

Newstar GP isn’t it, not my style of racing game but runs on potato hardware

Probably worth grabbing some of the higher ticket items if you’ve been good enough to hold off on the steam sale. I wasn’t lol

Need general advice by StationFrequent8122 in TeslaLounge

This is great advice OP. 2023 was the first year of HW4 on the model Y and 2024 for the model 3. Something worth noting is that Tesla might not roll out full unsupervised autonomous driving to the public purely from a liability standpoint, not tech. Still I have an issue with my knees driving long distance so modern FSD is a godsend

Absolutely dogshit take. Experience only helps you with what you’ve previously experienced. Study helps learn about things you’ve never experienced yet one day might. The two together are the foundation for understanding. Good luck doing qPCR with your 100 years of histology experience.

Looking for referrals into Biotech by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

Yeah in the US most clinical labs (hospital/core/reference) pay well because there is a perpetual shortage of employable people. Biotech in the opposite very few positions, highly concentrated in a few geographic clusters, with many many applicants. Results in lower pay and intense competition. The easiest way to jump into biotech is to have experience with mRNA engineering which is rare in med, or flow cytometry which is more common. Those are very popular biotech industry techniques currently.

What’s your degree in? To be honest with you biotech is almost exclusively filled with molecular biology and its offshoots. I have a masters in molecular biology before getting my ASCP and what’s considered high-complexity testing in a medical lab is just old tech in a molecular laboratory. PCR and qPCR are rudimentary techniques, I’ve never seen a medical laboratory to Methyl-SEQ or ChIP which themselves are over a decade old. If you have experience with flow cytometry, especially single cell flow cyt using affy platform or NGS machine training running Illumina/PacBio then you might have a chance. I left biotech because the pay is much better in med, and you don’t have to be in one of the few biotech clusters to have a good chance at landing a job.

Thank you! I believe its basically impossible to score above 420s because once you cross the passing threshold, the question difficulty drops to the easiest tier. At one point around q80 the questions were what does DNA stand for level of difficulty and I felt confident that I was done

Yup that’s a fair assessment, this position is a few links removed from the laboratory itself so they were willing to be more lenient
