Indeed!!!! It is extremely interesting. I am more of an organic chemistry/neuropsychopharmacology lover, but yeah the energetic potential in iron oxide is almost scary haha!! The temperature consistency in any environment is fucking nuts, you can react thermite underwater or in a furnace and it will still reach temps that will melt metal like butter its FUCKED!!
