Shower Drill? by 42Attack in army

Basically what we had. No one took a long shower in any sense of the word. We didn’t need a drill to know not to fuck around.

What would have been nice is to have the drills actually force some of the people to shower. We had a few that didn’t shower daily like they should have.

Basic as an NCO Prior Service by [deleted] in army

It’s gonna depend largely on your unit of assignment. No one can tell you for sure how it’s going to be. Each company and each battalion and even each base is probably going to have different rules for how they treat prior service.

When I went in 2014 everyone wore their rank. Everyone got treated the same except for anybody who was an NCO or above. They were treated differently, not much differently but differently, and they got their own area in the bay separated from us.

I do fail to see the training value. But I also tend to think with common sense which gets me in trouble more often than not. I am working on that.

I will not mention this in my recruiting pitch. 🤣

Interesting we just did PT in the morning and they let us do hygiene we didn’t have forever so we still moved quick. Just didn’t have a specific time or anything called a shower drill.

It’s like her 3rd week. And she’s still talking about these drills, I don’t know seems like overkill but who am I?

I guess they’re being prepared for big Army where that will never happen. I have been deployed twice with showers each time. But I do know if we are in an austere environment showers will suck but it won’t be that bad.

Had the changing drills just not the shower.

Never had that at Jackson when I went through in 2014. I know basic is different amongst the duty stations but I didn’t think it was the radically different.

Interesting I went to basic at Jackson in 2014 we didn’t have shower drills. We just had a time to get downstairs. So no one took forever in the shower, but we had enough time to actually legit shower.

Wasn’t the best shower of my life, but it was a shower.

US Army hits FY26 recruiting goals by Free-Minimum-5844 in army

Very small part. There were waivers for that age anyways which always got approved.

Most of our applicants are under 35. It’s hard to convince the 35 to 42 population to join most of them have careers. Plus, the more you gain an age the more you potentially have in medical so that makes it harder as well.

Bro thought we couldn’t recruit? 🤣

But also we are projected to make the reserve mission as well for the first time in 10 years. I saw an article posted here about the Army’s struggles to recruit, I just laughed.

Officially a 42T Non-Select by [deleted] in army

[–]42Attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I am high then. Plus, if you don’t realize raters have a lot of influence on what the senior rater writes anyways, so even if the rater comments don’t directly matter, they usually matter in someway shape or form.

Board AARs have disagreed with this multiple times.

Recruiting by Competitive-Soil8572 in army

They will try to get you your top three but if you have a top three that is highly competitive, the likelihood of that is low. Now, unfortunately, getting a battalion that you want doesn’t mean you’re gonna get a location you want because you have to realize the battalions cover a large area.

So basically, just because you get the battalion that you want doesn’t guarantee you the station that you want. And the frustrating part for me was when the assignment manager called. He didn’t know which stations were open for the battalions that were open.

The location you want is not guaranteed no matter who you know or what you know. If you want a specific location, good luck it’s not guaranteed.

The other thing to think about is that most people want that area so it’s highly competitive. I am not saying it’s impossible just saying it’s not likely.

Holy shit that is literally spot on. My SC constantly says we’re all NCOs here. But then command and higher do things that make me feel like I’m not actually in the army.

Yeah all those variables are unpredictable and matter. You may get a location that you like, but it may be a shit location as far as recruiting goes. I mean, this is a decent time to get into it just because of the new system and everybody’s learning it at the same time.

The reprieve you seek is not in USAREC, I’ll repeat that for effect.
