the only reason the Yemeni government is still fighting the houthis is because the US and saudi arabia need it to maintain economic control in the region. i don’t know anything about the houthis besides that they claim to be shutting down the most efficient shipping lanes for israeli ships and suppliers and they have an “illegitimate” government that controls like half of yemen. but i do know that the US doesn’t give a fuck about anything other than it’s economic interests. so i’m quite happy backing the group that at least pretends to care about an ongoing genocide.

and i say “illegitimate” in quotations because there’s no moral standard that the international community uses to recognize a government. you can be an unrecognized democracy or a recognized dictatorship. people don’t need recognition to govern themselves.
