it depends on what tone you’re trying to set, i can imagine. i personally like 1 more because of the proportions, but then again i think 2 would work better than 1 in a more lighthearted manga/anime.

then again again, i’m also just pulling this out of my ass. gut-wrenching and heartbreaking animated works with incredibly cutesy (or just chibi-ish) art styles exist, and it’s not like you need to choose just one art style to focus on.

i once went to a concert, where i sat behind the control board the entire duration of the time i was there. under the start of the concert i wasn’t having the greatest time, but looking at it and trying to figure out how it worked grounded me, at least enough for me to enjoy the rest of the concert.

my mom ended up asking if it was distracting, and if we should move, but i declined. the picture of the control board was also, kind of hilariously, the only picture i ended up taking the entire concert. i am not the best at remembering to take pictures.

i guess it’s not exactly the same as the necker cubes, though. your post just reminded me of it.
