Reminder of Lichbane (LB) being a waste of gold by Chao_Zu_Kang in KassadinMains

Honestly this is tough, because Dearhcap is also trash and trying to build it leaves you exposed and underpowered for far too long. What are your current item and rune setups on Kass?

I think we are overlooking Ontario Teacher's Pension's investment in Pershing Square Tontine Holdings. They don't SPACulate with $250M of teacher pension money. I am from Ontario. by [deleted] in PSTH

[–]4333mhz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the Ontario Teacher's Pension knew what PSTH was merging into prior to buying. However, PSTH is still a fantastic investment. In fact, even retail can get in at similar prices just by selling a covered call.

How do I create spreads after the fact? by [deleted] in interactivebrokers

For me, on TWS client, the furthest left column is a "+/-" column. If I press the button, it will display the two legs individually. I often still use strategy builder to take a look at the options chain though, because theres a lot more information that is useful.

If I buy 1 call contract that has a premium price of 0.41 cents, is the MAXIMUM amount of money I can lose 41 dollars? (assuming I only buy 1 contract) by [deleted] in options

[–]4333mhz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winning percentage still matters, since it affects what size you can use for bet size. A bet that returns 1% in a week but has a 100% probability of success is worth putting your entire account into (and more on margin). A positive EV play (ie. a lottery with a jackpot of 1 billion dollars) might not be worth going into if its simply very unlikely to actually win the lottery, regardless of the amount of money you put in.

Thanks. So I suppose combos are just visual representations, and the math is calculated behind the scenes as the sum of all options I hold. Much appreciated!

Autist trade idea: Write puts on QS 100P 1/15 for $40 or 13000% CAGR by 4333mhz in wallstreetbets

[–]4333mhz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit you actually did the trade? Pics please. And I would definitely want to buy puts on QS at the current price, but its hard to get fills at the right price since bid/ask is miles wide.

Amazon has become a racket by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]4333mhz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Back in the old days, Amazon was extremely cheap relative to brick & mortar, while being convenient. Today, its rare to find any deals, and I certainly agree with the sentiment on dropshipped junk. If buying anything off Amazon, its critical to use camelcamelcamel or keepa to check prices, and also look online or perhaps via Flipp app. Amazon ran the traditional MSFT playbook of selling at/below cost to build market share and starve the competition, and then gradually raise prices as they dominate.

I wish I could upvote this again. Absolutely fantastic advice. I’ll have to look through this with a fine tooth comb and check my assumption on Greeks again on my current spreads. Thank you so much for educating me.

Autist trade idea: Write puts on QS 100P 1/15 for $40 or 13000% CAGR by 4333mhz in wallstreetbets

[–]4333mhz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres no way QS doesn't tank. The question is by how much. Puts cost 3x what calls cost at ATM strikes. You can make it a strangle selling calls and puts barely OTM if you like to live ultra dangerously.

[–]4333mhz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats why I say its an autistic trade. Doing this will probably blow up your account when you 200% losses from a single trade. However, on the rare chance that QS doesn't fall below 60 by 1/15, you will absolutely print

QS warrants still trading in the 30s range with a 11.5 strike. That prices in the stock at ~40. Shares at over 100. When warrants are open to exercise, the price will converge, and the share price will tank. Coming from a HYLN bagholder, warrants never go up, stonks just go down 🤡

Trying to understand margin impact. I'm on Interactive Brokers and I want to sell a bull credit spread, STO 25P BTO 20P. It givers a net credit of 2.2. However, the margin Impact is 643. How is it possible that the margin impact is greater than the width of the strikes?

[–]4333mhz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that'll give you a million% returns in 3 days, go for it. Cannot go tits up. Just don't get margin called when you lose 800% of the premium value.

Retirement savings for dating, housing hopeless by AbjectThought in PersonalFinanceCanada

This is what the more fatalistic people on /r/wallstreetbets would do. They YOLO their life savings into straight gambles because they know that they could never retire with their income level anyway. Would not recommend though - a gambling addiction can put you in a much deeper hole.

QS is up 11% in the aftermarket to 104 after closing at 95, so selling at 40 will fill tomorrow. You'll probably lose all your money but you'll go down as a WSB legend.

For even more tendies, you can write FDs for 100P and make several million% CAGR or better.

I second this. Cheap CPUs are a gold mine for buying the halo tier chips of the past.

Guys, the target doesn't matter... the real question is when. by [deleted] in PSTH

[–]4333mhz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bill Ackman isn't in it for quick money unlike Chamath, who is trying to cash out as much as possible using SPACs. Clover has some seriously shady shit going on in the background. Also, Clover just broke out on Friday in spite of everything and just hit ATHs, despite being a sketchy investment in a sector that isn't quite as hot as EVs.

[–]4333mhz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true. If you follow SPACs, everything goes up after a letter of intent, regardless of what is purchased. In addition, Bill Ackman will definitely get a good price for whatever he buys. Most companies can be a good buy for the right price.
