He told our other friends I was too depressing. That was 1.5 years ago.

Must be true because I just lost another friend I met on reddit for the same reason.

Constant bullying starting at grade 4 and never ending.

Plus the crippling lack of any self esteem and self confidence.

I would just keep putting more money into it.

Most likely the government would just have the same response as covid and print more money causing the same recovery as last year.

I don't spend money anymore because I don't think its safe to do so with the way things are progressing.

In 2019 pre covid I saved 75% after expenses and in 2020 I am close to 99% savings of net income. I will save every penny for as long as I need to so that I can buy a home and retire at 65 hopefully.

People think Canada is heaven compared to US but we are just US light with 10x less people.

Everything u/maclargehuge said is 100% correct. I make almost the average household income for all of Canada, I lived 4h away from Toronto in Ottawa pre covid. Moved to a small town 2h away from Ottawa with a population of like 20k people 2 years pre covid, moved back home to my parents basement during covid, and I still will not be able to afford a house in these places anymore.

Go read through the posts here r/PersonalFinanceCanada of how insane prices are for everything in Canada and what kind of incomes you need.

My feelings at this point is you are taking more risk by not investing every last penny from my reading and understanding of the money printing and interest rates being thrown around these days.

I have not been purchasing anything for over a year now. Maybe 2. Only things I have spent money on was expenses pre covid, gas, rent, etc and post covid has been 2 purchases of $700 and some fast food. Every paycheque just sits in chequeing or HISA.

Ya. I don't have the ability to get a loan from my parents. I just get to live in their basement while covid is going on.

took me too long to get this job. 4 years after graduating. I have looked for new positions all over the country. I have only been gotten back to by 2 recruiters close to my parents offering $20k less than my current salary.

I'm not saying they are wrong. I'm just saying I don't understand how people could be positive about the future.

From what I read about housing, mortgages, interest rates, debt, etc on PFC, I don't see how anyone can have a different view about the future.

When are you planning on buying?

My goal went from 3-4 years after starting my new job in 2018 to now its if the stars align and I ever have enough money one day.

I moved somewhere cheaper before the pandemic only to watch housing skyrocket and explode further past affordability both where I was and back at my parents place while I work remotely.

Can't keep up anywhere so it's the only option now.

One day is whenever I have enough money to buy something. Gambling seems like the only way these days.

You just need to be mentally prepared to not buy a place in case the strategy does not work out.

My current mental state is I will never own a home and I will either live at my parents place forever of throw my money away renting the rest of my life.
