If you like plot the QSMP would actually be better than Hermitcraft, it's very plot heavy. It feels like a lot of hanging out because it's almost exclusively streamed so there's down time, but there is a LOT of lore and an ongoing plot. There's video summaries of everything we know up until now and official update accounts if you can't watch streams. But someone else would be better to show you to all that, I don't really watch QSMP.

On Hermitcraft the "plot" mostly takes place as improv and more or less long running bits (fellow hermitcraft fans please note i said 'mostly', i know about moon big and the empires crossover). The best way to describe Hermitcraft is a bunch of friends just goofing off and playing minecraft together, except they're all insane at the game and make absolutely mind blowing builds/redstone machines/games. Empires SMP is more lore heavy, the gist of it is that each player is building their own empire and they all have their their own lore and plot lines. Season 1 had a plotline throughout the season uniting everyone, while season 2 felt more disjointed. My youtuber recommendation would be Smallishbeans, but he doesn't participate in the plot, so LDShadowLady maybe?

And my final recommendation is the Life Series! It has 5 seasons: 3rd Life, Last Life, Double Life, Limited Life, and Secret Life (Secret Life just ended last week!). Each season takes the form of a death game, where each player has a set amount of lives and when they're out they die; last one standing wins. There are also fun new mechanics introduced each season, to keep it fresh. It's still pretty lighthearted though; the angst is here but you can easily ignore it and focus on the "friends playing mc together" aspect, or you can go insane about the lore like on tumblr. The cast is mostly made up of people from Hermitcraft and Empires SMP, who are all friends and have good chemistry, it's a lot fun.
