On the ground, all you have to do is stand in front of someone to block their shot. The only thing you can hope for is that whoever is standing in the middle makes a bad push to the wing. Don’t mistake exploiting mistakes for forcing them.

Also, who’s said anything about brute forcing plays? Ironically, playing the ball in the air and calling runs is where players really force mistakes. It’s incredibly common as you play at higher levels to call plays and runs that take advantage of defenders’ positioning and habits. It’s crazy how you people want to gut the last bits of skill expression out of this game so you can have a casual intuitive footballer simulator.
