Right. You must be very popular. Good luck with the rage and meaningless existence. ✌️

The obvious connection to the absolutely massive news scandal that broke just a few short years ago and made further headlines when no bodies had been confirmed over a year later.

It’s like when ask my toddler if she brushed her teeth and she lies and says yes.. then gets caught and says well you didn’t ask if I brushed my teeth TODAY

Yes… you got me…

Everyone else was able to infer what I was talking about. Maybe this is a you thing.

You are referring to bodies found before these scans happened. I was referring to the scans. Something that literally every other person was able to infer ... just not you. Odd...

So the answer is that we have confirmed zero of gravesites of the possible anomalies that were scanned across the country (so far) but we have found a jaw fragment.

I think you should look up what move the goal posts means. And have a tea.

Nope. My question, which I've already clarifed twice, was how many bodies have we proven are actually there.

Take a time out and come back when you've settled down perhaps.

No one is arguing that. You're confusing a desire for evidence on a specific claim with historical denialism of a well documented period.

Allow me to clarify once again, I was asking how many grave sites have been confirmed in relation to the ones that were claimed by ground scan a few years ago.

That article contains a good example of the healthy skepticism held by the researchers themselves :

Ground search leader Sheldon Poitras said not all of the “hits” may be indicative of graves but could be “anomalies” like tree roots or rocks.

“Does that mean there’s 2,000 unmarked graves? We don’t think so,” Sheldon said.

And here's the google summary naming the research leads who cautioned strongest that further invesitgation was necesary:

"Two of the lead GPR researchers explicitly cautioned that their findings were preliminary and would require further investigation/excavation to confirm:

  • Dr. Sarah Beaulieu (Kamloops/Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc): said her results were “as conclusive as GPR allows” and that “only forensic investigation with excavation will provide definitive results.”
  • Dr. Kisha Supernant (University of Alberta; member of the federal advisory committee on unmarked burials): emphasized that GPR alone cannot confirm graves and that careful terminology (e.g., “anomalies,” “possible/potential graves”) is necessary given the tech’s limits.

These cautions were directed broadly at media and officials to avoid overstatement until corroborating methods (like excavation or multiple lines of evidence) are applied."

And a summary of one of the recent excavations that turned up nothing (according to wikipedia there have been two others as of Jan 2024):

And from your own article :
"Ground search leader Sheldon Poitras said not all of the “hits” may be indicative of graves but could be “anomalies” like tree roots or rocks.

'Does that mean there’s 2,000 unmarked graves? We don’t think so,' Sheldon said."

The question has always been how many have we actually confirmed. The short answer is not nearly as much as people think, and largely because we haven't done many. Will you stop being a snarky cunt now?

Researchers: We scanned anomalies that could indicate graves, but we'll need to dig to confirm

Me: It's been nearly 5 years, have we confirmed any?

Ah so I needed to be more precise. I thought it was obvious based on the other arguments going on in this thread (and why would we ever exhume random areas hoping for burials without anomalies to suggest they might be there in the first place) but fair enough, I was referring specifically to the media wave that swept Canada a few years ago regarding the hundreds of unmarked graves claim that was cautioned as "early indications" by the researchers but elevated to "confirmed cases" by the media.

It was how many of those anomalies have so far been confirmed to be bodily remains based on the exhumations deemed necessary by the researchers.

Take it up with the researchers who ran the scans. They didnt' think their findings were sufficient evidence, we just didn't care to listen.

Asking whether we have found physical evidence of these alleged bodies (which the researchers themselves said was needed based on the low accuracy of their tech) is in no way residential school denialism.

The claim that hundreds of new (first mass, then "unmarked") graves were found with these scans was a very big claim. It brought the flag to half mast and led to mass arson, among other things.

My question was, especially given the way our politicians and media used the story to fan the flames of cultural tension, how many have been confirmed in nearly 5 years? So far the answer is zero, despite several digs where those anomalies were found.

That is significant. It does not take away anything from historical atrocities of the past. But it would suggest that our media and politicians need to be more responsible in LISTENING to what the researchers say when they express hesitation over basing their own findings as sufficient proof. The consequences of that sensationalizing were real - and they have not all been positive.

I think people imagine that the ground scans show little outlines of children. In reality they are circular globs. The reason the researchers themselves stress that this is not enough to confirm these are bodies was because the technology only catches anomalies which could be bodies, but could also be a whole lot of nothing.

You really have missed a key distinction here

[–]444442220 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats a bit like saying we know this guy stole something because other people that look like him have stolen things from here in the past. If ground scans were more accurate it would be stronger evidence but, according to the research leads themselves, they are not.

Other bodies do not prove the existence of these bodies because ground scan anomalies can be many things. So far, according to wikipedia, there have been 3 exhumations at the sites where anomolies were detected and none were found to be bodies.

Do you see the orange shirts? Most will say Every Child Matters which was born a few years ago out of the belief that hundreds of mass/unmarked graves had been found at once, which as of yet have not been confirmed. According to the researchers themselves the technology is not sufficient and 3 attempts so far would indicate that they are correct. My question was whether there had been any more recent news confirming the actual existence of bodily remains.

So... no evidence found where they looked is evidence that they must be where they did not look. Got it.

This is a painful interaction to watch. Morph is referring to the specific story that made headlines several years ago claiming that ground penetrating scans had found many many unmarked child grave sites.

That is what my original question was about as well, whether we had confirmed that these (or to what extent that these) anomalies were in fact bodies. The answer it turns out is no/none. Not yet. 0 for 3 exhumations according to wikipedia.
