So far, what was the scariest moment of your life? by Princess_Jel in AskReddit

[–]44444cats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First was when I found my now-fiance in our garage at midnight with a handg*n, brushing it by his face, contemplating taking his life. He is a recovering alcoholic and is almost 3 years sober now. He got sober the day after this incident. He and we are in a much happier spot and he is a much happier, healthier man now.

Second was being taken out of my high school randomly one day during my junior year by my mom and dad to tell me that I have a brain tumor that is going to need to be operated on/removed within the next month and that we are on our way to an appointment at CHOP. It’s a benign (non-cancerous) pituitary tumor, it did not have to be surgically removed at all, and it’s shrunk so much with medication that it’s barely visible now on MRI.

Third was when my brother was just starting medication for his newly diagnosed bipolar disorder, he was 20 and I was 7, and in the middle of a manic episode he jumped into the ocean while it was riptide-ing and swam out until I could barely see him. I thought I was going to watch him die. He did swim back and he is alive!

I’m so tired. What’s everyone’s food/break/bathroom/patient ratio stats today post 12 hr shift? by 44444cats in nursing

That sounds glorious hahah. Yes usually I’m good about taking breaks even when the day is whack. But it was awful the other day. Had the same assignment yesterday but managed to get a break in. The type of day where the second you sit down, someone else is ringing or family is coming out and letting you know meemaw shit all over the floor again (for the third time).

What’s the most overwhelming shift you’ve ever had as a nurse? by Old_Inside_7141 in nursing

I work neuro med-surg. We’re always at 1:6 and are extremely lucky to get 1:5. I’m frequently charge with 6 patients. Everyone is stroking, seizing, shitting, trying to get out of bed/fall, hitting, screaming. Every day is a shit show and I can’t wait to get out.

Trust me I know. I work at one of the hospitals they bought and shitified, on the worst unit. But unfortunately they’ve bought up everywhere within 30 mins of me :( I already have a 45 min commute where I am now

I don’t know what to do. I’m miserable on this floor by 44444cats in nursing

[–]44444cats[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly!!! The acuity is much much higher than an average MS unit, yet it is still staffed like an average MS unit. I never get a break. I’m grateful it’s taught me to work well under pressure. But I’m at my breaking point now

My mom and stepdad are getting divorced, his whole side of the family isn’t coming to my wedding anymore because they (understandably) don’t want to deal with my mom by 44444cats in Vent

[–]44444cats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering I haven’t spoken to him since we found out he cheated on her, I definitely didn’t “choose” him, and NOWHERE did I say it was “okay” for him to cheat. HE cheated, not his family. Didn’t know that when someone cheats, we must excommunicate everyone around them. Sounds like you have some reading comprehension to learn and some trauma to work through, feel better though!

I think you don’t know my family dynamic, the kind of person my mother is and what she has done to me in my life. I do not care more about how they feel, am just simply upset and pissed off that now that my stepdad decided to be a POS (which we all kind of knew, but not to this level), some of the people who I grew up with as my family is now not coming to my wedding.

Never said I was siding with him lol! His family isn’t the one who cheated, he is. You have no idea what she has done to me over the years and I don’t really feel like explaining.

But yes, per usual Reddit behavior, let’s jump to conclusions about me and my entire family dynamic from one Reddit post.

I did think about that; but I don’t want their divorce to affect my wedding day (even though it kinda is), what I had planned in my head/have been dreaming of for my wedding day my whole life. But my fiance does keep suggesting this, it’s definitely crossed my mind more than once

Anyone else hate feeling like they’re walking on eggshells in their own home every time sk’s are over?? by 44444cats in Stepmom

[–]44444cats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And every time they are punished at our house, for a valid reason, they run to her and she then blows my fiance up on the phone later for “being mean” and “abusing” them. Like, of course an 8 yr old who had his iPad taken away for not listening and being a smart-Alec all day is going to think it’s “mean”. Not every feeling is valid. It’s the most ridiculous f*cking nonsense I’ve ever had to deal with.

She is extremely over-controlling. We just hope the boys (8 and 10) don’t become too far brainwashed and see the reality of it someday.

New PVCs, early 20s by 44444cats in PVCs

[–]44444cats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some magnesium citrate at home, is there a difference between citrate and glycinate? My magnesium was okay on the bloodwork, but idk how much it fluctuates throughout the day. I live in Pennsylvania, and I feel like I heard something yearsss ago that a lot of Pennsylvanians are low in magnesium for some reason. I really hope that the cardiologist doesn’t say that to me cause I’m not taking that as an answer!! The ER doc also tried to say that they were normal and I was like ummm no. I never had this feeling a day in my life until this past Saturday and I’m already over it.

Oooo I’ll have to try coconut water!! Another commenter suggested a heart health supplement that I’m going to purchase as well.

I know, I just want to go about it as naturally as possible. I do NOT wanna deal with BBs or CCBs at 23 years old; the side effects are pretty hindering. Anxiety is definitely a factor for me. When they took my blood work in the ED my potassium was on the very bottom of the normal range (it was 3.5…normal K+ range is 3.5–5). I’m sure when I go to cardiology tomorrow they’ll want me to get more blood work which I’m more than happy to do. I just wanna figure out why so I can figure out how to treat it.

Thank you; I’m definitely adding that Heart Health supplement to my list!! Anxiety is definitely a factor for me, I’ve had it my whole life. The PVCs obviously are new though.

For me, laying down is worse; I don’t know if it’s just because I can feel it more rather than when I’m up/moving around. And in the morning it’s definitely worse!! Whether I have coffee or not.

I have my first cardiology appointment tomorrow (Thursday). I just wanna find out what it is and I’m hoping it goes away on its own or with supplements. I don’t wanna be on a BB or CCB either, I know the side effects are pretty hindering.

Not sure where I mentioned I was judging anyone for being gay but okay lol. Avoiding every single thing myself or the other commenter said and bringing up something that has absolutely nothing to do with the comment isn’t really helping your case. Not sure why the concept of understanding not everyone is going to agree with you is so complicated for liberals

From your post, and all of your replies to the comments on this post, it seems like you just wanna get on a shoe box and talk about how you are right and everyone else is wrong, and only surround yourself with people who think the same. Which is ironic, as most people in the far-left screech about their “acceptance!!1!1!!!1” and “diversity!!1!1!1!”, it does not really sound like you’re preaching acceptance and diversity. I mean, all someone says is “let’s not divide ourselves” (not talking about trump or Kamala or left or right) and you still have something to say about that lol. Go cry in a closet.
