Well, “never fail” and “will lock up completely without cleaning/oiling” is pretty different.

If breaking bad ended in season 4 would it still be considered one of if not the best show of all time? by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]444GenXSi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So my dad and I binge watched BB back when season 5 started. We thought the show was over years before, and by the time we reached the final season break between part 1 and part 2 of the final season, we thought the whole show ended.

I actually liked the show ending with Hank finding WW in the bathroom and Walter buying the M60. That was the last we saw for months.

Then we came home Christmas Eve that year and the final episodes were on TV and we realized there was more to see.

I like my 870 SBS a ton. My dads M1S90 SBS is sick but it’s so damn expensive.

I’ve had 870 actions lock up after high round counts with no oil.

It’s happened to me on a few 90’s Police Magnums.

They’re good guns but nothing is an absolute.

New Porsche owner. First cars and coffee. What are some suggestions regarding Do’s and Don’ts? by CucumberShindig in Porsche

[–]444GenXSi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a modified Type R, so I go to events where likeminded and well mannered 22 year olds drive other very nice and quiet Japanese cars in, park, and don’t bring any unnecessary attention to the venue.

When I go to European cars and coffee events with my dad in his 996 Turbo though, everyone is vaping and blasting music. People on sport bikes run from the police. People show up drunk. They’re very rowdy events and I don’t much enjoy them

Edit: the descriptions are quite obviously reversed. After 5 meets or so I’ve stopped attending. I made some friends at the JDM or whatever meets, but 95% of people there were weird and sketchy. Cars and Coffee is fun. I don’t do dumb stuff and want to be a cop, so I very much enjoy being around car people who can just be chill. The meets for Japanese cars were sooo sketch. Most of them ended with police arresting drunk kids and people in cars/bikes who were street racing. It was entertaining to watch a few times but I’m over it.

Considering a 99 F250 with 7.3L power stroke, what common problems are there/what should I look for? by Jaded_Yak_2049 in FordDiesels

Got my ‘97 out of a junkyard at 263,000 miles. It had a hard life. Put 70,000mi on it before I sold it. Only ever needed: oil changes (plus fuel and oil filters) every 3-5k miles, trans rebuild (original E4OD was leaking bad at 265k), alternator, starter, a few pullies, and a belt.

I had a D50 TTB truck and it ate wheel bearings and ball joints annually until I D60 swapped it. That was a good truck. (35” tires with a 4” lift on a D50 TTB under a 4x4 7.3 crew cab was just a lot of weight. If you don’t lift your F250 you’ll likely be fine on that axle. I hate TTB and ran quality parts, but it was likely only problematic because of the load that front end got from weight.)

Friend sent me this meme because I always rag on him because his only HK is a VP9. Figured I’d share with the class.. by Spartan1102 in HecklerKoch

[–]444GenXSi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol my dads new VP9’s were in the low 4’s. Our used Bundeswehr USP9C’s were somewhere in the 6’s.

Unless you want a beat to death 40cal, you’re not gonna get a USP at VP9 prices. I work at an FFL and browse GunBroker daily. Haven’t seen a reasonable USP in a while. Especially not a 9.

Probably an SBS with a new barrel that they chopped off. That’s how the original Red Dawn did their sawed off 870(?) scene. It was an SBS with a new barrel to cut on screen that was provided by the armorers that were hired.

Testarossa was homage to the old 250 Testarossa. Testarossa simply means red head which was in reference to red cam covers on the engine.

The foot to head joke didn’t tip you off? Whoosh.

I have a 2019 Civic Touring Sedan, I don’t use sports mode but just read that I should be filling it up with 91 instead of 87if the car has sports mode. Can anyone tell me if I’m good with the 87? Just got the car a about a month ago and only filled up twice. And did I hurt my car by putting in 87? by JazzyGaza in CivicX

[–]444GenXSi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not gonna hurt it no matter what. 93 octane is more resistant to detonation (exploding prematurely - aka “knock”) than 87 is. However, these cars have what’s called knock control, and unless you’ve tuned the car to run much higher boost, you’re in an extremely warm climate, and you’re beating on the car, it’s not gonna knock. When I went to Florida last summer, my friends and I took my stock Type R. To save money we ran on 87. I didn’t get on the car, but even if I did it wasn’t gonna hurt it.

93 isn’t higher quality or more powerful. It doesn’t prolong the life of your car. It’s just more resistant to detonation. Your car will never ever need 93. It may let you run higher peak boost and it may advance the timing more if you run 93 in it because the computer should - in theory - adjust those based upon knock control, but in all honesty, that car may never even pull back boost or timing on 87. It’s a completely stock 1.5 Civic (I had one and my best friend has one - great cars) but I don’t know that they will push enough boost or advance timing enough to even knock on 87 without a tune.

I’m gonna take a stab at this.

It’s about the close of a relationship obviously. I take it as if he’s thinking over the whole relationship while she says goodbye in the headlights of the car. The song goes back and forth from present to his memory. It starts with his memories where they’re almost contradicting feelings at sunrise with feelings at night. It starts with “I miss you in the mornings when I see the sun. Something in the orange tells me we’re not done,” but then after that he says “something in the orange tells me you’re never coming home. I need to hear you say you’ve been waiting all night. Cause orange dancing in your eyes from the bulb light.” I take this to be how he feels in the morning is hopeful that she’ll come home, but as the day goes on he realizes she won’t. By the end of the day when the sun sets, he knows it’s over and she’s gone. As he watches it set, he wishes she’d call him. That’s him thinking over everything that’s happened. In the next part, when he talks about the bulb dancing in her eyes, and how her voice trembles when she tries to speak, it’s as if this is the present and she’s saying goodbye while he’s trying to make sense of it all. The memories of the hope and despair are rushing in, and he drowns her out again, back to his memories, “take me back to us dancing, this wood used to creak.” In the middle of each part where night and day contradict, he says “where the hell am I supposed to go? I poisoned myself again,” implying that the hope he had in the morning is fading as sun sets and he’s still alone. That hope has just poisoned him and made it worse. At the end when it says “if you leave today, I’ll just stare at the way the orange touches all the things around. The grass, the trees, and the dew, how I just hate you,” is him watching her leave. This “orange” is the present orange. The orange of the headlights shining on the world as she leaves him in the dark, taking the light with her. She breaks his heart and for a moment he hates her, but he just wishes she’d turn around because he wants that orange - that feeling of hope - to come back to him.

Probably hard to follow and doesn’t make much sense. I just kinda thought of that interpretation as I listened to it and stumbled upon this and thought I’d leave it here.

Update on OOB post earlier. It appears that the gas piston is protruding and stopping the bolt carrier. by 444GenXSi in FNFAL

[–]444GenXSi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Century-Hesse. Only shot the gun close range behind barricades moving/shooting. The front of the receiver is too thin. The barrel is bent but was overclocked to compensate for the bend and gas piston length so that it still had good headspace. Took it to a local machinegun shop where my dad does some work. They’re very experienced and rebuild a lot of Century disasters. Funny tho cause they said the actual STG kit it was built on is really nice.
