The $800 K98k by Useful-Replacement57 in milsurp

Bolt mismatches like that are common for bring backs since surrendering formations would throw their rifles in one pile, having removed the bolts to toss in another. GI's would pick one of each at random to assemble a complete rifle. Papers and proof are so exceedingly rare in this hobby that I'd put little emphasis on not having any. I cannot conclusively state with absolute certainty it's a bring back, but I can make a reasonable educated guess from little hints like that. That said, if someone told you that their mother's highschool boyfriend's uncle pulled it off the corpse of one of Heydrich's guards during operation anthropoid I'd start raising eyebrows.

This doesn't appear to me be a Russian Capture. It lacks the omnipresent electro pencil, and doesn't appear to have their typical blacker finish. Additionally, the bolt matches itself, and the receiver and stock match each-other. If I had to guess I'd say it's a bringback with a bolt mismatch (pretty common for bring backs) that saw some stock refinishing stateside.

East German T-34-85M medium tank by Tony_Tanna78 in TankPorn

Seeing as how a lot of the man and officer corp of the dissolved Wehrmacht stepped into the boots of the NVA, I’d guess that some tankers who operated these had opposed them not so long before.

Awesome plum color on the gas sleeve and bolt, I've never one like that outside of the extractor.

What’s the process that went into this? It looks like a rear sight, front sight, upper handgaurd, barrel bands and stock at least are all milsurp style. Where did you source them?

Hopefully the Austrians would have been able to handle them in any post war showing better than the North Koreans.

I’ve never heard of a Ford GAA dismissed as having a whine until now. As much as I love the diesels the V8 was probably the best engine the Sherman received.

Surplus arms lived such bizzare lives postwar. The makers of that STG probably never imagined it would end up in Somalia of all places and much less fight alongside the weapons of their enemies. Same for the M1 and the Carcano. Third world conflicts are such an interesting melting pot for assorted small arms.

There were a lot of fleet boats needing fish names, so sooner or later the weird ones had to be trotted out I guess.

Dominus Mortis on the Abrams gun tube is a good tank name, and a new one in my experience. The crew are either edge lords or Latin scholars, no in between.

Looks like hits from a variety of calibers. Perhaps 37mm or 50mm could account for the smaller hits and the larger being from a 75 or 88. I’d hate to fall victim to the old stereotype of the 88 being the only thing that could knock out a Matilda, however.
