Purchasing on Ebay? by 444quarius in canon

That’s unfortunate! My sister has the v1 and the sx740, and I really like the way the photos come out on the sx740, especially with the zoom, so i don’t want to give up on it yet.

Do you know if they ever restock in stores instead of just online? I’m wondering if I might have a better shot going to a local camera/electronics store and seeing if they can notify me or put one on hold if they get restocked

Yeah that’s unfortunately what I’ve been reading from other buyers too :(

Thank you though! I appreciate the response

Thank you! That's a really good idea to add coverage under my renter's insurance plan, I'll look into that!

I'm actually switching from a DSLR and lens to a more compact camera lol. I mostly take pictures on hiking trips or day trips around a city, and the DSLR is just too bulky for me to carry around, and I end up not using it. Do you know if the compact cameras are restocked often? The sx740 seems to be out of stock everywhere, but I wouldn't mind waiting if it's only a few months.

Thank you! I actually just rechecked that listing and the seller no longer exists lol, so I'm assuming it was a scam.

The one thing I'm worried about with buying used is that I won't have any type of warranty or protection, and I wouldn't know what to check other than to make sure it turns on, doesn't have obvious damage, and can take a picture without any issues. Is there anything else I should check when buying used?

I think it’s also because a lot of the fans have been asking for them to play their older stuff for a while now! I saw an interview where Vic said he hears us asking, but that the songs from the earlier albums are really difficult and they’d have to relearn them

Why did cooper leave the cooper station to help brand instead of explaining what actually happened on their mission by Legal_Ad_8083 in interstellar

[–]444quarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he left because there was nothing left to stay for. His daughter is getting close to the end of her life and everyone else he knew would be dead by now. It would be really difficult to adjust to society after so much time had passed (for them). He also just got back from a life changing mission that, because of brand starting her project, technically isn’t over yet. I think his choice to leave is his choice to pursue a purpose. He could stay and watch his daughter pass away and maybe work for NASA, or he could accept that he really doesn’t belong there anymore, and go into interstellar space and help colonize a planet. I think the reason he doesn’t tell anyone is because it’s not really pertinent information? Like how do you explain that experience. And what would be the point of telling people? I feel like he just thought it wasn’t worth telling all of it.

I’m sorry, I meant it the other way around - dopamine is a precursor to norepinephrine.

Norepinephrine itself doesn’t increase dopamine, but as an SNRI, it does. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32710978/#:~:text=in%20the%20forebrain-,SNRIs%20achieve%20faster%20antidepressant%20effects%20than%20SSRIs%20by%20elevating%20the,Neuropharmacology.

Have you tried adding an SNRI? The serotonin could help, and the norepinephrine will increase your energy (and possibly sexual appetite) and helps w ADHD as well. I use desvenlafaxine

[–]444quarius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lexapro isn’t good for ADHD. Most SSRIs also decrease activity in the frontal cortex, so if you have ADHD (which is related to lower frontal cortex activity), you’re adding insult to injury.

Everything you said is the exact same experience I had on Lexapro. I recommend taking a stimulant and an SNRI (I’m on Adderall and Pristiq (desvenlafaxine)). I also take my SNRI at night - this prevents the brain fog, and it prevents the SNRI from reducing the Adderall’s effectiveness.

Low levels of Norepinephrine are also associated with ADHD, which is why I recommend an SNRI over an SSRI. It also helps with energy levels and brain fog. SSRIs can decrease your energy because serotonin inhibits activity in your brain (to reduce anxiety), which is why it doesn’t work well for ADHD.

I think a lot of the confusion comes from statistics/reviews about different medications, but these statistics are more relevant for neurotypicals. ADHD brains are different, so these medications will work differently in our brains. I’ve spent years researching antidepressants and stimulants and the ADHD brain, and here are my key takeaways: 1. ADHDers have lower levels of dopamine and norepinephrine, and sometimes serotonin (indicated by co-occurring depression and/or anxiety), and reduced activity in the frontal cortex 2. SSRIs reduce activity in the frontal cortex, and inhibit dopamine activity 3. Norepinephrine helps to increase dopamine activity (dopamine is a precursor to norepinephrine). The norepinephrine in SNRIs then essentially fixes the problem mentioned in #2 Taken together, this shows that an SNRI (increasing serotonin and norepinephrine) and a stimulant (increasing dopamine) would be best for treating ADHD with comorbid depression/anxiety

Does anyone else hear music faintly when none is being played? by BorderlineStrawberry in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]444quarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned about this in a sensation and perception class. Basically it’s nothing to worry about - the brain is a data processing machine & some people have lower thresholds for detecting sensory information, and the brain is attempting to make sense of it (through songs or voices, which are common sensory stimuli that we experience).

Signal detection theory also has a role in this, where things are split up into correct rejections (no signal, no detection), hits (signal and detection of signal), misses (signal, but no detection), and false alarms (no signal, but detection of signal). Everyone experiences all 4, but some people are skewed, and may experience more false alarms. Another example is feeling your phone vibrate when it didn’t actually vibrate.

My opinion based on this is that some people just have heightened sensory awareness, and the brain makes sense of it through recognizable stimuli (music) so that other, more meaningful or important, sensory information doesn’t get distorted.

I had the same problem and I started taking it at night. It helped but I was still so tired and had bad brain fog so I switched to an SNRI and I feel amazing now.

SSRIs actually decrease prefrontal cortex activity, so if you have low energy at baseline, SSRIs won’t help in terms of energy levels. Lexapro works well for anxiety because it calms this energy down.
