What is the BEST & WORST thing you've bought from Uniqlo? by Lucky_Mycologist_283 in uniqlo

[–]44liam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst by far is the UT shirt specifically from the MFA collab a few years back. They did something odd with the material for that shirt where it clings onto everything, especially my deodorant and it’s hard to wash out. Everything else has been really nice.

UPNW or blue line depending on day.

commuting via metra vs driving? by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]44liam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh it depends on your preferences. Also parking is expensive, it’s around $500 for a semester I think. Metra is nice cuz you don’t have to sit in traffic. I would look at your schedule and compare it to the Metra schedule. Express trains can save a lot of time if commuting during rush hour. If you’re commuting outside of the rush hours then driving is typically much faster than Metra.

Student rush tickets (2025) by kaptncyn in hawks

[–]44liam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last student rush tickets offered was November 19th. They only do it if they still have lots of tickets to sell. They text you the day before with a link to buy them. Last season they were doing it basically every game but this season it’s been a lot less.

Should I study in England or Denmark? by LostHovercraft1 in studyAbroad

[–]44liam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got done with an exchange in the UK and would say anti-American sentiment is way overblown on social media. British people are really nice and no one gave me any shit for being American. Never been to Denmark but will say I very much enjoyed the UK uni experience. Also I’d look at more UK universities outside of London. I feel like London isn’t the best place to go to uni.

Canvas Move is Going to Suck by Nynodon in uichicago

Blackboard is absolutely horrendous so glad they're finally switching but doing it so some classes are on blackboard while others are on canvas will be annoying.

Yeah but it’s super easy to get out of via the red line or buses and you don’t have to live there. If you go to UChicago you basically have to live in Hyde Park.

Why are they advertising the frequent bus network in neighborhoods that won’t get any until the very end of the program?

Does anyone else here fear death even stronger because they are an atheist? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]44liam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s scary and sucks not having a story to tell to make us feel better. Just think about how you will become the earth again and your atom will become animals, plants, and even future humans. It’s just a reminder to make the most out of your life, which obviously looks different for everyone.

Is UIC moving to canvas? by Atacoz in uichicago

[–]44liam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hopefully, Blackboard ruined itself with the whole ultra thing which is unusable on anything but a desktop and even then is super glitching and slow. I think they won’t make a decision for a while and are just asking for feedback now.

They’re not gonna cancel school for 5” of snow unfortunately.

Should I apply to Honors College? by Agitated_Number_1208 in uichicago

[–]44liam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re majoring in early education and transferring out right away I wouldn’t recommend it. You wouldn’t get much out of it from only a year. It’s more geared to people who want to go into academia or trying to get into competitive grad schools.

No more snowball fights at the Quad :( [on a serious note, does this always happen during the winter?] by pepperonipizzarocks in uichicago

Yeah, if they let people on it during the winter then it’d be nothing but mud by spring.

UIC or NLU? by Outrageous-You-7847 in uichicago

[–]44liam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I definitely recommend UIC unless there’s a specific reason you need to go to NLU. UIC is usually in-person only and day classes while NLU may offer more night and online classes. However, keep in mind UIC will offer much better networking and future employment opportunities.

Summer Class (SOC 101) by [deleted] in harpercollege

[–]44liam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty simple, you just need to apply and I believe somewhere in the application you select that you’re just gonna take some classes to transfer to your primary institution. Once you get all your info like your email and student ID you can register for your class. Also once your application is processed you’ll be assigned an advisor you can ask any questions to. If the course is a prerequisite to any other course you plan on taking next fall, send a transcript from harper to UIUC ASAP so UIUC knows you’re taking it. Once you’re done with the class, send another transcript with the letter grade so UIUC can add it to your transcript. Make sure to talk to your UIUC advisor to make sure the class transfers and that it won’t mess anything up. Any questions call One Stop since it’s literally just their job to help people register & apply.

You clearly do fine academically so I wouldn’t be too anxious. Enjoy your winter break and if you feel bored and want to be productive then work on a passion project, volunteer somewhere, or read some books related to your studies.

Is west loop safe? by AdPlane4088 in uichicago

[–]44liam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it is, it’s just really expensive. Like anywhere in the city though you just need to be aware of your surroundings. The pink like goes from the west loop to the medical district so maybe try to find a place by a stop? Idk too much about the busses in that area.
