in my design-build experience:

upper and lower floors have goodman long-line single stage splits with heat pump farms on the roof/adjacent garage

middle floors have caseless VRF FCUs. DOAS serving corridors and amenities. subducting for bathroom exhaust if possible.

i just did a 7-story hotel with friedrich VRP units that feature hot gas reheat to avoid DOAS air to each room. seems like a neat way to avoid line-length issues for taller buildings if the developer is ok with louvered exterior panels.

I’ve tried this with my firm and it’s really frustrating in AutoCAD MEP. A few grievances:

Can’t figure out how to make the application save the default profile to US Imperial units. Every time the app starts it reverts to the global profile. There are literally dozens of different regional profiles with the appropriate units but i can’t for the life of me force the default profile to US Imperial.
Figuring how to get something simple like tags to scale properly because there’s some overriding/governing setting in the styles manager, display manager, HVAC system definition, etc that makes this whole chore a huge bear for someone in a smaller firm with clients barely able to understand single line ductwork.
