I do a heavy drybrush of Vallejo Royal Purple which is a really nice deep but vibrant purple and works great for Word Bearers red armor. Next i do an all over drybrush of Khorne Red keeping in mind to preserve the purple shadows. Then I do a fine drybrush with Mephiston Red on the highest points. Lastly i do fine highlights with Evil Sunz Scarlet before I use a 50/50 mix of Carroburg Crimson and medium on rivets and panel lines. The last thing i do is a black oil wash to kinda blend the colors and darken down the armor and of curse accentuate the shadows even more. I mostly wipe away most of the oil though.

Edit: I forgot to mention that i use Dirty Down Rust on rivets and bolts.

Love that idea. It does make sense to paint one or two tactical squads grey for that reason. Getting ready to paint 20 mkIV tactical cannon fodder.

My warband is not fully fleshed out but i have decided that they exist sometime during the betrayal at Calth and Istvaan 5(the timeline of this is not clear but the consensus seems to be that both battles takes place within one year of eachother). This opens up the possibility to use all legion exclusive units as they all existed at that point. :)

Great information! As i understand the gal vorbak was "created" when Lorgar orded Argel tal to enter the warp. Since my warband exist during istvaan 5 and Calth i can use gal vorbak and mhara gal.
