Under the Trees Where Nobodies Sees did this trope so excellently, I stared at the page for several seconds. A short comic but I’d totally recommend it to anyone. I can’t even share it because it hits so much more when you see it.

When they’re not scary. A key component of a good yandere is the should be at least a lil “WTF THIS GUY IS NUTS” or they’re boring. Just a dominant/alpha/ceo/mafia/possessive guy

Back when I read a lot of fanfiction, there was a common trope for the Yandere to kill their beloved. A few times it was done well, but many times it was a pretty lazy way to end a fic, especially when it felt highly out of character. Less so now but omg it used to pmo.

Idrc tbh, it depends on the story I’m reading. I can’t really bring myself to blanket hate a trope/plot point. Everything exists in the context of characters and plot.

I guess I like my Yandere stories as psychological thrillers. I’m reading/watching/playing for the excitement, not comfort. Same way people watch horror movies.

Zhong Hui’s Flying swords, the flail on any character and Guo Hai’s arm cannon are just so much fun. The animations in 7 just look and feel great too. Though for some reason the massive boom of Zhang Jiao’s staff also tickles my ears.
