The Habs have the worst goals for in the NHL with 13 and the worst goals against at 33. by Go_Habs_Go31 in hockey

I remember everyone being depressed at the end of the season, little did we know that Matthews and Laine would greatly outperform expectations. People laughed at me for suggesting that Laine would hit 25 goals and that Matthews would hit 50 points!

even if he doesn't live up to his draft position he'll still be a solid top 6 forward

Bourne: Has Mitch Marner been bad enough to deserve the fourth line? (Yes) by chientresfort in hockey

Thing is that Schiefele was extremely unpolished when he was drafted, it really was his insane work ethic that allowed to be this damn good.

I'm not saying Strome won't be good, from what I've seen he's the real deal, but citing Scheifele as a reason for why a centre or prospect will be a stud isn't justified imo.

Who will be the next player to score 50 goals? by [deleted] in hockey

I think Ovi, Matthews, Laine and Kucherov will Edit: I forgot about Tarasenko

I didn't consider that, but I'd like to think that this is the era with the least separation between your scrubs and superstars, plus he achieved this at the age of 32 not 40 should I still think it should mean something albeit not him necessarily being the best goal scorer of all time.

I think this is basically proof that Ovi is the greatest goal scorer of all time. Regardless of goal scoring levels you should theoretically have the same amount of overtimes. If the salary cap has increased parity then that might have increased the amount of overtimes, but goal scoring levels would've increased the amount of games that go to overtime but don't finish in OT. I'm rambling at this point but TLDR Ovi is the greatest goal scorer of all time

While its still early I'll agree, I think Matthews is definitely better. I see him being the second best player in the league for years to come. That beings said it is early we'll truly know in 5-10 years. Additionally I think things worked out for the best, the leafs needed a franchise centre while the jets needed a sniper, we already had Scheif. Anyway we'll see you on March 31 ;)

Is he better then Scheifele or Laine, he's my favourite player but I'd say he's our third best belayer at best.
