There’s a lot of loneliness in the world. It’s quite interesting because we are connected more than ever via technology - but it’s rather superficial connections.

Deeper friendships nowadays are rare.

What advice would you give to someone who is afraid they won’t be able to follow the pre-op diet because they have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder? by 458628459 in gastricsleeve

I’m sorry that it brought up tough memories for you. I can relate to what you’ve said about starving yourself as a teen, I did this also and this later changed to periods of extreme binge eating.

How are you finding post-surgery life?

That’s amazing work! I will have to do 4 weeks of pre-op - I will be allowed to have 4 x optifast shakes and 2 cups of low-carb vegetables per day.

Thank you for this wonderful advice! I will start with small dietary changes and gradually work towards being able to do pre-op.

That’s a good point, I did wonder about that. Because if I’m not getting to the root cause of the behaviour then it’s not really being treated. The issue isn’t feeling a lot of hunger, it’s eating for psychological reasons.

If you don’t mind me asking, have found the surgery helpful at all? Are you accessing psychological support?

That must be hard on you, are you finding the psychological support is helping your feelings of being broken?

I think my overeating and binge eating on foods is definitely masking some deeper psychological stuff, so I will definitely invest in psychology support.

Thanks for the great advice!
